posted earlier today asking the question if the Giants are the most dysfunctional organization in football; the Bengals are trying really hard to take hold of that title. This is a recipe for a disaster of a coaching staff they are assembling.
A head coach who's resume highlights are mentoring Ryan Tannehill, a year as an offensive coordinator at a mid major college leading the Cinci Bearcats to a 4-8 season after they made a bowl the year prior, and most recently a position coach for the Rams. Want to give him credit for the ascension of Jared Goff? Can't even do that as he was the tight ends coach until this year, after Goff had already broken out.
OK, so you are taking a big risk at head coach, the current trend is young offensive mind paired with head coach experienced defensive coordinator. Who do the Bengals hire? A guy who not only has no head coaching experience but who doesn't even have experience as a coordinator.
Maybe an experienced offensive coordinator could help out? Nope, another first time coordinator and nepotistic hire Brian Callahan. The staff literally has 0 head coaching experience on any level (college included), 1 season of coordinating (at a mid-major level) and 2 partial seasons as interim coordinating between the combined resumes of the head coach and offensive / defensive coordinators. That is absolutely brutal. It is literally the cheapest coaching staff money can buy.
Boy, it almost got to me & you going for interviews in Cincy, with all those rejections. I guess that old saying, if at first you don't succeed...
Who knew they needed 13 try, try agains to get signature on a contract!
But he got solid play out of a lot very bad players save Curtis Riley. BW Webb actually had a decent year under him, and Grant Haley really came on late in the year. We were under manned in the secondary, badly and that group outplayed its talent level, he was doing something right.

100% agree with this. The coach will be missed
I like to see LSU DB Coach Corey Raymond as our secondary coach Â
He has seven years coaching LSU's secondary. He has produced a lot of NFL calibre talent including Jamal Adams, Tredavious White, Eric Reid, Donte JAckson, Tyrann Mahieu, Jalen Collins, Rashard Robinson, Tharold Simon and Jalen Mills

That was me. I totally agree with you. The Bungles are a disaster. BUT - I'm just going to leave this little factoid:
Since 2012...the Bengals are 62-48-2 with 4 playoff seasons
The Giants are 47-65 with 1 playoff season. That's a 7 year run where the Bengals were clearly a better team. Of course, during that 7 year run - they both have the same amount of playoff wins(zippo)...so there is that.

Raymond also played with the Giants from 1992-4
Corey Raymond reference a,ways makes me happy. I used to start him on the sets genesis NFL 1993 game as the nickel guy. Was a solid reserve
jk
I hope he does very well.

Haha, yep. I thought he was from the U, but yeah, you're right.

Lol, or Tom Quinn may just slide over there for the promotion.
