Zach Lowe made some interesting KP comments on his podcast while chatting with Ian Begley:
"I don't think he was psyched about playing with Durant. I don't know how directly that was verbalized to the Knicks, but I'm confident that it wasn't something that was his Plan A. He wanted to be the face of the franchise."
If you remember, the list KP/Janis gave the Knicks was Nets, Clippers, Heat and Raptors. Kawhi is likely going to be a Raptor or Clipper next season, so KP would've been the face of three of those four teams. Obviously Doncic has that title in Dallas, which explains why KP might be hesitant to stay there.
Also, KD mentioned that KP was "in a good place...for him" at All-Star Weekend. Maybe nothing behind that quote, but I suspect KD will happily choose a better, healthier running mate.
Anyway, just a little more smoke surrounding the KD-to-NY fire.
His own opinion of himself is way more inflated than it should be.
Matt Harvey of the Knicks.

Agreed. Good player but his mental makeup on top of the huge medical concerns made him a must trade, IMO. Just not worth the trouble, the kind of guy you will never please.
remember yahoo had an article saying janis gave a list of players kp wanted to play with..
Exactly what I was thinking when I saw this thread title. He does not want to play Center and potentially have to bang around with some guys at the position. Guy is a clown, glad we got a nice haul for him. I went from being shocked, to understanding the trade, to being glad we got rid of his sorry ass
Finally, he said: “Here’s what I think... I think bidders have gotten organized. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything’s happening.”
so basically they are on the list because all 29 teams are on the list
Dotson getting a piss test after this game
I’m really surprised by KP in general. Man it’s crazy how something that looked so good can turn so sour so fast. The Harvey comparison is spot on.
Even if there’s just a 1% sliver of truth how the fuck do you not want to play with Kevin Durant. How.

I’m pretty much in that same boat. I don’t even care if KP turns out to be Bill Russell redux, the guy burned the bridge here not the Knicks. I don’t see how or why Perry and mills would alienate the KP clan. I know the Knicks have this stigma of trying to control the media but that’s just it, the media loves to shit on the Knicks at every turn, and they haven’t here because KP left the Knicks with no choice. Crazy. Dude is hurt and he’s talking all sorts of shit? The fuck is that.
He reminds me of an AAU coach. Talks a good game. Chummy with the boys. X's and O's are not his forte.

he really has been horrible this year

i know the team sucks but some of his decisions are just mind blowingly stupid...
Players love him and the way the league is now you have to have a coach players like but man some shit he does
Starting line up:
Smith Jr
Dotson
Knox
Vonleh
Mitch
Bench
Mudiay
Frank
Trier
Kornet
Let these guys play big minutes and if you lose you lose.
fizdale will play mudiay over irving...
Kevin Durant stay far far away..
His own opinion of himself is way more inflated than it should be.
Matt Harvey of the Knicks.
^^^^^this^^^^
Mudiay and Vonleh don't count? Fizdale's an asset to the Knicks because of how much players around the league like him more so than any coaching ability though tbh.
Not when the coach says he played mudiay because he thought he had it rolling...
and uf you are trying to lose why was deandre in the game and not robinson?
it should be playing the young guys who are goimg to be here and live with result rather than trying to lose
This whole year has been weird. If this was NBA 2K we would have hit the “auto sim remainder of season” point a long time ago. Watching night to night the only compelling thing for me is seeing how DSJ, Knox, Frank and Mitch look and Frank hasn’t played in weeks.
Project two seasons down the road though and it’s entirely possible none of them are around, the whole roster could be different, the coach could be different.
There’s really no point to this season anymore. The next consequential moment in Knicks history is the draft lottery in May.

But then get all over the coach for losing/lineup decisions, can’t have it both ways. The plan is clearly to lose and everything needs to be viewed under that context.

I mean what do you want him to say, “I played Mudiay because he sucks and is more likely to help us lose?”
As for Robinson, he had 4 fouls in 13 minutes, how is that on the coach? Fouls and stamina are what has limited his minutes more than anything all year. Knox, Trier and Dotson all played over 30 minutes but i guess that doesn’t count.

no i am responding to you saying coach is not trying to win, if that was the case why did he bring back deandre?
Ok so now everytime the coach speaks we are not supposed to believe him?
I know the team sucks but he can coach a lot better, some of his decisions are terrible

If the moves are being made soley or mainly for preparation for next year , the dynamic entirely changes in game day strategy.
It sure seems like that is what he is doing. Knox needs to be developed and or showcased. And all the younger guys making 4 million plus for that matter. Only kinda peculiar one to me is DSJ and why he isnt getting higher minutes. Is DSJ slowly worked in while he is learning how to play Point? Or maybe nursing an undisclosed injury?
Truly is amazing. Sarver has to be the worst owner in the league.
And I’m not saying he has to make them contenders, but it would be nice if Booker starting winning some games. Guy did get a max contract....
I’ll take that bet.
You’re reading too much into the rotations right now. Fiz is trying to see what we have here. He’s building players first, building a team second and trying to win last.

Dude what do you want him to say? That he’s playing mudiay becsuse he isn’t sure what the kid can do long term? He’s also said that. You’re reading way too much into this shit. Worry about fiz when the Knicks only win 58 games next season and don’t get to the finals. Then you can worry.

One more thing, Fizdale also said some pretty lovely things about KP during the fall. He also went to Latvia to kiss his ass. All those nice words and proclamations that KP would be the face of the Knicks and how’d that turn out?
Fizdale is the least of our problems.

KP really inflated his value.
