Former Vikings DT Sheldon Richardson intends to sign a three-year deal with the Cleveland Browns when free agency opens Wednesday, a source tells ESPN.
Clevelands opening-day front four now expected to be DE Myles Garrett, DT Larry Ogunjobi, Richardson and DE Emmanuel Ogbah.

Solid moves thus far for them. They still need to augment their OL. On paper, theyve improved.
Yah know, if they land Bell, as the reports say they might, and improve the OL in the draft, they kind of have an 06 Giants feel as far as trejectory goes. I know people here have mixed feelings on the Jets, and obviously I bleed blue, but I root for NY teams as long as my teams arent playing them, itd be nice to see that franchise start to turn in around.

Is DG prepared to pay Williams in the neighborhood of 4 years, $52 million of which $32 mil is guaranteed? Thats what James got.

Jets trying to fill every hole with top end free agency feels like a disaster waiting to happen; at least for their sake Darnold will be cheap for the next 3 years so a lot of these big money contracts can play out their guaranteed portion prior to them needing to pay the QB so that when that time comes they can be released.

Who knows what DG's plan is for RT. But for those that want it fixed in FA and don't want an old veteran placeholder such as Veldheer than they need to expect DG to pay market rate. DG was killed last year for making Solder the highest paid. I suspect that if DG lands Daryl Williams, he be killed for having 2 high paid OTs.
The other option is to realize that while ER is a premium position, not all ER are in D. Law compensation territory. There are plenty that are in the $10-$15M/yr. When people realize that top OL are now being compensated the same, then it makes sense to consider a prospect like Jonah Williams at 6 to lock down the right side for 2 years and taking over LT pushing Solder off the roster. It isn't sustainable to pay your OL with top OL salaries (keep in mind that Zeitler has 3 years of top salaries on the books).

The #Packers are expected to bring in a huge addition, bringing in former #Ravens edge rusher Za'Darius Smith, sources say. They tried to trade for him a few years ago, are in prime position to sign him now.

are playing this smart. They aren't winning it all this year. Cap should be used to fill holes with smart cap savvy moves and gear up for 2020 when Eli is off the books. Remmers, Deone Buchannon both make sense as buy low candidates at positions of need with upside.
It is what it is. A lot of FA $ on Wednesday will be consumed by the first wave of players.
A few teams spending big like the jets is risky in that they were no where near a playoff team. Similar with Washington.
The Packers have Rogers and it makes a ton of sense. It's very surprising only that they are usually pretty quiet during FA. KC has to spend, they can win now.
The Raiders are making a splash for Vegas which also makes financial sense and they have so many early picks this year they are in a different position.
Come to think of it, outside of Solder, the only notable players Gettleman has brought to the roster where via trade. Ogletree and Zieter were trade.
Lots of the players Gettleman brought on were cut by other teams and those don't come with any comp pick strings attached. Additionally, if anyone signs those players off our roster they actually count in our favor for the comp pick formula. New England used to do this. So if any of Brown, Jernigan, Wynn, Mauro are signed I believe they would help Giants in that regard.
With the "No Guts No Glory" comment, you have to wonder if the Giants move this year is trade for QB of future. In draft or elsewise.

but whats the direction? Are we trying to be competitive or rebuilding? If the idea is to penny pinch with an over the hill vet QB (and I love Eli). That doesn't make sense because we haven't got better over all as a team and our defense is not competitive enough to win in the NFL.
So if we don't plan on getting our future QB in this draft we better be bad enough next year to be in position to get our future QB.
I am not a proponent of hedging both positions. If we win 6-7 games next year we wont be in a position to draft the top QB's and we aren't good enough to make the playoffs...sounds like a pretty sh*tty position to be in with no future QB.

I think as we go on here its being revealed what the plan is. Like it or not, the NYG appear to be punting on 2019 by looking to bottom out. God help us if Beckham is still here for the ride.
Za'Darius Smith's deal with the Packers will come in over $16M a year.
That's ridiculous. Now Preston Smith will want that money
Not sure what people expected these guys to sign for. Pass rushers get paid and Mack set the bar extremely high this year. These guys were all going to approach it. The safety and inside linebacker salaries have been a little surprising but nothing shocking about what Flowers and Smith received.

The only thing worse than not having a QB is being stuck with a QB who sucks. If they don't like Haskins or Murray, taking one would be a disaster.
They need to fill out the roster. They have holes at FS, SS, CB, ILB, RT, and those are just starters. Get quality vets on the cheap, draft smart, and make your move for a QB when there's a guy you want.
I'm completely on board with that plan but OBJ should be traded for pick(s) and Eli needs to be told this is his swan song and we aren't trying to win this year.
You can't not address QB this year and win 7 games...you just can't. Because then Eli is gone and we have no future QB. If the plan is to not sign anyone this year collect future assets and tank for one of the top QB's next year I am on board with that plan.
Have the OFF and DEF line's ready to go when we can add a top QB next year and I will back that plan.
But they can't sell us on making the playoffs with Eli...sorry I wont buy that.
@JordanRaanan
In the mix for a mid-range safety (think Andrew Sendejo or something similar). Still looking at pass rushers (Preston Smith and Markus Golden among them) and will add a D-lineman. Offensive tackle still in play. #Giants
don't overpay these guys. the giants window is not this year. it's still 2-3 years away.
build through the draft, master the comp pick formula, use the second tier of free agency (golden and buchanon), and get the cap under control
Agreed since there actually is a nice crop of second tier guys this year. There are some years where the second tier are career special teams/depth players, but you have players this year who might be reclamation projects although they have contributed in the past and are young enough to turn it around.
If DG had signed any of the deals so far they'd be called Vernon II
the waiting strategy to get this year's 1 year / 7m deal for Honey Badger is a good play. I'd have no issue signing guys to bigger deals than that too if warranted, but I think spreading it around to multiple players is a good learning from last year where their only starter level signing was Solder.
All those former Cardinals who need to rebuild their stock are still out there. As are 2 RT's who Gettleman signed and have connections to the coaching staff. As are a bunch of edge rushers.
anything this should make people "happy" that the Giants clearly realize this team isn't close and it will take a few years/multiple drafts. Next off-season should look a lot different. Eli gone, 2018 +2019 draft crops settling in and 2020 draft class/FA's.

Preston Smith and Za'Darius Smith markets were both strong. Proved too rich for Giants. Za'Darius is signing with Packers and Giants are now out on Preston, per source. Barring any last-second change their search for a pass rusher will continue elsewhere

I dont think the guaranteed money is bad.
Also, rumors circulating about the Buccaneers selecting Devin white, who just lost Kwon Alexander.
Cardinals - Kyler Murray
49ers - Nick Bosa
Jets - Quinnen Williams
Raiders - Dwayne Haskins (Josh Allen?)
Buccaneers - Devin White
Giants - Josh Allen????

The money on this one will be interesting.
I wonder if DG inquired as thought here last week.
