Packers are giving former Bears safety Adrian Amos a 4-year, $37 million deal that includes $14 million in year one and $21 million in first two years of deal, per source.
posting on Giants board because they spent a bunch of money this year.
So we were supposed to just not do anything with the 2nd most cap space in the league? With a QB still on his rookie contract? They're doing what they're supposed to be doing

The #Packers are signing LB Preston Smith to a 4-year deal worth a base value of $52M, source said. He gets $16M to sign. He gets $27.5M over the first two years.
For Preston Smith? He disappeared for weeks at a time on the Skins. Decent against setting the edge. Would get to the QB occasionally. No thanks. Not at that price.

They should definitely be aggressive in FA. Still don't want to be stupid with your money (Crowder) or overpay too significantly (Mosley). The Osemele trade was a good low risk move that will help immensely if he bounces back.

It's like the Snacks deal with inflation. Strong on the edge and against the run, but you're not going to get much pass rush. If he could rush the passer, he'd be getting $4-5M more per year.
I wouldn't be surprised if Packer fans prefer this deal over the Z Smith deal in 2-3 years, just like most Giants fans viewed the Snacks deal as a steal and Vernon's deal as a bust.

Well time will tell regarding how these guys produce relative to what they're getting paid, and to their counterparts. To me they were necessary additions. Crowder is a very smart, savvy receiver. He creates separation and has good hands, entering his prime. Just what Darnold needs right now and we're paying him...the going rate really. Now if he's shelved for 1/2 the year with hammy issues then yea it's gonna look bad

Whats your confidence level in your offensive line? It wasn't great last year right? I know you just got Osemele though.

Still pretty low. I like the Osemele move but more is needed. They need a center to anchor it and the Spencer Long experiment was an abysmal failure (and even if he was healthy he's a bottom 3rd center). I really want Paradis and I'd like to trade out of 3 and use the resources obtained to draft another offensive lineman somewhere in rounds 1 or 2 (not the best draft for O-line but) but the line has not gotten enough attention from Mac. Last year especially it was horrid

Even healthy, Crowder's not that good. I'm not a Humphries fan, but for the same money I'd rather have him.
That said, if I was the Jets I would've just stuck with Enunwa and looked for an outside WR to complement him.
Sure they might have their franchise QB but they need a LT, G, #1 WR, C, DT, DE, RB, CB. Taking out the QBs the Giants roster is better than the Jets even after the Barr and Mosley signings. The Jets line is much worse than ours. Of course FOTJ is acting as if its a sure thing that the aging Osemele will not play as bad as he was last year. Its sad that he thinks that he can convince us that the Jets are a great team on the rise as if anyone here gives a shit about the Jets.
how insecure you must be to go troll on opposing team's fan site.
I wouldn't do it but I don't look down on them for coming here, it gives us something to unite against. I for one am kind of tired of hating on each other over our opinions about Eli. Welcome diversion IMO.
And they've done so in a big way. Have to say I'm ecstatic at their moves...that cap room that they sat on last season had to be used eventually. I'm just glad they're going about things the right way. Young, hungry players totally in their primes. That will give you great value throughout the full extent of their contracts

To two linebackers who arent pass rushers and of course fanofthejets returns to tell us how great the Jets are. Why are you on this site?
Did you watch Barr at UCLA? He can absolutely rush the passer. Besides Barr fits in very well with a Gregg Williams defense because of his overall versatility. The move makes all the sense in the world
This really improved our defense. But you'd better improve the defense with all the cap space we've hoarded for a while.
Its easy to hoard cap space when you dont have a franchise QB and you draft poorly and rarely re-sign your draft picks. The signings of Barr and Mosley have proven that the Jets missed again on Darron Lee.
You've drafted even worse though. But yes you're right. Lee has been meh. Wouldn't call him bad but somebody who has under performed and someone gregg williams apparently has no use for
Up until last year they did draft poorly which is why the roster is riddled with holes but the Giants two superstars in Barkley and Beckham.
Beckham and Barkley got you 5-11 last year. Our teams both have holes but I'd take our future over yours
Then go back to the Jets board. I would rather have the Giants as Beckham and Barkley are better than anybody on the Jets roster currently.
I wouldn't get too attached to Beckham, and frankly dealing him may net a return that the Giants can really build around and fill a ton of holes with. Especially on D
Barr came to his senses and stayed with Minny, and Crowder sucks. Massive waste of $$
So we were supposed to just not do anything with the 2nd most cap space in the league? With a QB still on his rookie contract? They're doing what they're supposed to be doing
Very un-Packers like. They always seemed to be frugal to their own detriment.

This surprises the hell out of me...i thought they were ready to run him out 2 years ago!
Doubt anyone else is willing to give him anything close to $17M per season.

I would have taken a chance on him on that deal.

The harm is that it pushes more dead money into future years.
The falcons will now have to spread the money out the 7 million over the remainder of his contract increasing his cap number each year.

You end up with a Romo situation where you have a $15-20M dead cap hit for a guy that isn't playing.
