among Giants fans. They're using the same playbook we used in 2004-2005, which is what we should've done these past two years. They have an excellent team coming together.

One reason why it's stupid to fire a coach and not a GM. Now Mac is spending like crazy to save his job and clogging their cap for when Darnold is ready. Packers at least recognize Rodgers fading window and making one last push. It makes sense for them.

They still need help along the OL. Theyre in the mix for Bell. I can still see them taking Allen at 3. Theyre clearly the 2nd best team in that division. And, I hate to say this, but today theyre probably a better team than the NYG.

Very good observation.
Frankly takes a lot of spinning to get to a place of criticism of a team with a young talented QB, a number of young good players, and nearly 200M in cap room to spend over the next 2 years.
but they're doing what they should be doing - stocking up while Darnold's on a cheap contract. Their defensive core is Adams, Williams, Barr, Mosely and a stud DL with the #3 pick. Still work to do on offense, but Crowder's a solid piece and we'll see if they land Bell. They still have New England to deal with, and the Chiefs and Browns are good young teams in the AFC, but the Jets are definitely on the uptick.
But they don't have use every dollar of that 100m in the first wave of free agency. We're not even 2 days into FA and they've gone top of the market 3-4 spots while being in on the top guys in another two positions. Just because you have the money doesn't mean you just grab the top guy at every position of need on the open market. There will be role player vets on the market after the initial feeding frenzy, there will be guys to target next year, the space can be rolled over.
I think they're running the risk of screwing up their window by not exercising a little bit of patience. Some of these deals will bite them.

Yes, love the fact they are scrambling to build a team around what Joe Beningo said is their messianic saviour Sam Darnold. Really going to cripple that team for a decade.

Plot twist! LB Anthony Barr has decided to agree to terms to remain with the #Vikings, sources say. He will not be a member of the #Jets after all.

What a crock. The cap has been no impediment to any team with reasonable talent recognition and acquisition skills. Once the team is built, which is what the Jets are in the process of doing, it is just maintenance to keep the talent pipeline going. Just because Reese sucked at it doesn't mean everyone does.

So Macagnan is good at it? No. He is spending money cause he is in the hot seat and if he doesn't throw money at players the next GM will. So it makes no sense for him to to be responsible with their cap. If these players don't play well for their big money he is going to get fired anyway so he might as well spend.
Geez, I compliment the Jets for the first time in 30 years

Actually, there is a requirement that over a 4 yr span, a team has to spend on average, 89% of their salary cap. I believe the current window runs from 2017 thru 2020. Furthermore, the entire league has to spend 95% of the cap during the same period. I don't know what this calculation looks like for the Jets, but they basically do not have a choice but to spend.

If you have a franchise QB you build the team around him. They're doing nothing out of the ordinary. They have the space (have had it for over a year) and are active in free agency in 2019 as they said they would all along.
The entire NFL runs through the QB position. And when you whiff on your franchise QB you end up with a future like the current Giants. None
It can work if done right.
Browns are no longer going to be the doormat
Let's calm down.

No.
I see a 6-8 win team. Big deal.
