Trade Saquon Barkley

MookGiants : 3/12/2019 8:26 pm
Terrific player. Terrific guy.

This team now has by far the worst roster in the entire league. If you draft a running back #2, you better be ready to win quickly because his prime starts immediately.

As great of a player as he is, a top running back on an awful team does no good. He has a ton of value to another team. Get rid of him for a big return now and tear this entire thing down.

They will never do it, but they absolutey should.

Dave Gettleman steering this rebuild should frighten the hell out of everyone. I would actually be good with this plan if they didnt have a total clown as GM.

Fire the GM. Fire the Coach. Trade Barkley.

Go all in on a total rebuild, in every way
Stop

We're going to fuck it up anyway, may as well try to get more value for it.

If you are Barkley how do you feel right now??

The Giants just traded your best friend on the team and essentially admitted they aren't trying to win anytime soon.

Barkley will be worn out and due for a big contract by the time the team is ready to compete.
If trading Beckham
MookGiants : 3/12/2019 8:35 pm : link
Wasnt off limits, why is Barkley?

Barkleys prime started last September. If you want to bet on Barkley being the rare running back whose prime lasts a decade, a list that is blank, go ahead.

This team is further away from winning a title than any in the league. There is zero scenario where this roster will be able to compete for a title in two years.

Then at that point its time to pay Barkley and pray that he doesnt wind up like almost every other running back, even the best ones.

He has no value on this team. A great running back on a horrible team. Shurmur will run him into the ground to win meaningless games.

Under no circumstance should a GM be allowed to steer the ship of a rebuild after just the year prior going all in on contending in 2018.

This is not an indictment on Barkley. Hes terrific.

I dont even really want a QB this year. The tank needs to be on and accumulate as many assets for the future as possible. Ezekiel Elliott is a terrific player, but on a bad team how valuable would he be?

Trade everyone. No one would be safe outside of will hernandez if I were GM
Well the usual Eli fans are having a grand old time
jcn56 : 3/12/2019 8:36 pm : link
The team can be a giant pile of shit, so long as he's still on the roster collecting his paycheck.

Why not trade Barkley for a 1st and a 2nd? At this point, this dumpster fire isn't amounting to anything anyway, might as well let the kid go on to have a career somewhere.

We're on the same page. How in the world do you pick a running back when your team is years away from competing for anything? If we picked a qb last year we could have at least the major building block to rebuilding. Look where this team is today. The worst roster in the entire league!
Thank sweet Jesus
Bill in TN : 3/12/2019 8:38 pm : link
for title apples that you're not.
If everything goes well
MookGiants : 3/12/2019 8:40 pm : link
the Giants will be able to compete in two years at best. Thats best case scenario.

So then you have wasted 3 years of Barkleys prime and you’re one year away from having to pay him big money.

The Giants will never do it. But for the long term success of the franchise, it should be done. The Giants are going to be horrible with or without Saquon Barkley the next two years.

The same people saying out the bottle down and laughing would have said the same thing last year if anyone suggested trading Beckham.

This is a sinking ship. Trade everyone of value besides Hernandez
I enjoy watching Barkley
UConn4523 : 3/12/2019 8:40 pm : link
so I’ll keep him despite us being bad.
As long as the Giants front office is making stupid fucking moves
Hsilwek92 : 3/12/2019 8:40 pm : link
Why not?

They’ll reportedly ask for the moon but, will obviously settle for below that.
Mook's argument is
Ash_3 : 3/12/2019 8:42 pm : link
a reasonable one. There isn't a single premium talent on the team outside of a RB. RB's have notoriously short shelf lives and prime's. Some are the exception. Trading Saquon and just burning the entire thing down would be the best move, but that won't be what we do.

This. At this point it's worth considering.

Mara is going to sign off on trading Beckham and then turn around and fire the GM. Makes sense.
Just glad

You arent blaming the refs for messing things up for your team for once

After spending stupid money on bad FAs last season thinking he can make a run, then extending OBJ only to trade him shortly thereafter - I'd say there's enough on the books to fire Gettleman right now. He can have the next guy trade Barkley.

Worst fucking GM in NFL history right here.

Barkley didn't miss the first four games of his rookie season, over half of his 3rd and the final 4 of his 4th with another leg injury. He put up 2,000 yards as a rookie, is already a leader, he's humble, he's respectful and he's a superstar who doesn't rock the boat. That's the difference. Mara and DG want a team they can be proud of and don't have to answer pesky questions about, like or not that's what this is.

At this point, I agree with u, trade this pick and get more, fuck it, can’t hurt anymore than this shit
Let him take all of those L's next year instead.

I'm sure he's thrilled with this news.
A lot of stupid
section125 : 3/12/2019 9:01 pm : link
being posted tonight.

Nobody (well most) aren't happy. But gee whiz. Just because they didn't rape Cleveland doesn't mean the trade wasn't fairly good. JonC was just saying this afternoon that after the AB trade, the market would not be that good for Odell. I don't like losing Odell. But a 1st, a 3rd, and a starting 22 year old safety who was a 1st rounder himself is not chump change.
Oh lord...

Beckham has not proven to be able to stay healthy, not to mention the distractions.
Barkley is the anti-OBJ

Wise beyond his years, durable, and only 22 years old
