There were two precipitating events. First was The interview he did where he was non commital about ny. This really sat badly with DG and Mara. Next was the bears onside kick. And his antics which have not been publicly known.
That info is worth what you paid for it by the way. But step back from the ledge. It will be ok.
A straight Neon Deion "business decision"
It was the one where he sat with that creepy homeless dude with the face tats.
Really, that is how you feel. Ok, if you are writing HUGE checks to someone and they basically act like they are stuck there and not exactly wanting to be there, how would you feel?
Add in 59 games played out of 80. Add in how many times this past year CRAMPS became an issue. Add in the poor attempt on the onside kick play and his missing the last 4 weeks of the season with an injury that came out of nowhere.
What stuck out for me was him saying something that he hated the weather here, or he didnt like living here or something. That's a sin for NYers. You must pretend, at all times, that you would never rather be anywhere else. At least in CLE, he can be open about the weather being awful.

Odell Beckham Jr saw Antonio Brown receive added money without adding New Years upon being traded to the #Raiders. My understanding is Odell wants the same thing from the #Browns.

simplified. "I am going to act like a pussy and avoid contact on the onside kick". Kind of like the lame injuries and not playing out the season.
Stop with the HOF stuff... 59 games played out of 80.. 16 games played out the last 32.. The Giants had one winning season with OBJ here.. He needs to do far more to be HOF quality.
HOF ? ROFL

He's their headache now.
Yeah, but Rice did that in less than 3 years. Beckham did it in 5

Was that the interview he kinda threw Eli under he bus?

Does not strike me as a bright guy. Cleveland, Oakland, Buffalo are like the dinosaur graveyards of players careers? All he had to do is shut his yap and go about his business like a professional. Barkley does this. quite a contrast. Something tells me that Beckham is going to regret the way he spent his time here in the endgame. He did noteven watch the case studies of his predecessors like Moss, etc and realize the investment in the game that is needed to get to the HOF and what it entails to get to elite level. Guess his mentors could not get to him. Hopefully that young man learns from this.
I mean an hour ago you still had people certain that the Giants didnt really want to trade him.
Could it have been any more obvious?

guys...he has same or better stats than rice thru 59 games. if he remains with that production, he will be in the hall. id gladly take some bets if you guys want
Yeah, but Rice did that in less than 3 years. Beckham did it in 5
doesnt matter...59 60 minute games. the guy is unarguably a top 3 guy... he stays on path he is a Hof
It is the sum of all the parts. The lack of effort/business decision on that play, end of season bruise, Lil' Wayne Interview, crappy pizza with fat hookers, etc.
can't wait
Ask about the IV ruse?
As I asked earlier, if OBJ was so valuable to a team; and the Browns got him "for a JOKE of a return" why weren't there a dozen teams in line to better Clevelands offer?
To date, OBJ has led the league in one category...and that was accomplished 4 years ago during his rookie year. How is he on a path for the HOF?

I doubt not leading the league in a category during those years matter. He definitely needs to start playing full seasons to be HOF worthy, but he's more than on track.
Beckhamhas played in 59 games in his NFL career. He has5,476 receiving yards and 44 TDs compared toJerry Rice (4,852 yards, 49 TD),Larry Fitzgerald (4,373 yards, 32 TD),Calvin Johnson (4,139 yards, 33 TD) andAntonio Brown (4,072 yards, 20 TD).

Fat hookers doing blow on camera
OBJ was a straight up asshole. He was our asshole, but he was still an asshole. If he played for any other team he would have been BBI enemy number 2 (Eli would no doubt still be number 1).
yeah and people here were making excuses for him saying "but it was his day off"
Seriously? you play football for years and finally make it to your very first NFL playoff game. So, instead of coming into the facility to watch more film on your opponent and take the game seriously... you go down to Miami. You drag the rest of the WRs with you because that is the kind of leader you are.
If you lose the next game, you can spend the next month in Miami if you want.
So get the fuck out of there that that "effort" bullshit.
Well, yeah Victah one of the most beloved, over achieving, uncontrovesal Super Bowl winning Cruuuuuuuuuzzzzz gets a pass. I guess the Super Bowl counts as enough for me there. Maybe the long shot story. Maybe being a great guy off the field and in the locker room? I mean, Cruz should have known better but his overall body of work far exceeds and will long outlive the accomplishments of OBJ as a Giant.
OBJ is an enormous tool. Seriously, exempting any domestic abusers or criminals (a large pool I know), list 5 NFL players from the past three decades who were bigger ass clowns than OBJ. TO? Who else? And say what you like about his talent in meaningless games, OBJs next big playoff game will be his first.
Then he should have taken himself off of the field.

Going on that boat trip was fucking stupid and selfish. And then he disappeared in his only playoff game as a Giant. And then, having fully demonstrated his poor judgement and his inability to step up in a playoff game, he punched a wall in the locker room.

Both of you sound stupid. You think he's the only player to take a day off 7 fucking days before a game?

Honestly, this line of thinking is just moronic.
You and the rest of the "old school" nincompoops helped run one of the best players to ever put on a Giants jersey out of town. Well done.

And youre an admin? Calling me names isnt going to make you feel better. And Im pretty sure youre the one who looks like a moron here. Nice job Gary.
I wish all these people Maras included would just play with their abacuses in some padded room somewhere where they couldnt affect our lives anymore.
No one from the defense was on the boat trip, yet they played their worst game in months...
- Hail Mary at the end of first half
- Allow TD in 4 plays after Eli makes the game 15-14 in 3rd quarter
Heck, even the punter who was great all year sucked that day.
Boat trip was just an excuse for people who hated Odell to bash him. Eli, as far as I know, didn't go on any boat trips before his first playoff game and he was GOD-awful.
Please don't spoil things with facts.

You think the fans opinions had *any* impact on this? You seem much to smart to hold that opinion.

j_rud,
Absolutely the fans opinions have impact on these decisions. It was the fan outcry at the Eli Manning benching debacle that caused ownership to double down on Eli. It was the fact ownership and management felt humiliated in the PUBLIC'S (i.e. the fans') eyes when OBJ gave that Lil Wayne interview.
Trust me, Mara cares way more about the fans' opinions and public opinion in general than he should. He's afraid of the "The Giant Way" being compromised and that causing fans to lose interest or stop coming to games. He might think it has to do with making decision centered around a "winning attitude" but in reality this is just old rich farts with big egos not liking the public spotlight OBJ held and how his "attitude" affected the public view of the Giants.
What they didn't realize is the 2019 NFL player is much different than he's ever been especially with the rise of social media. This phenomenon is pronounced by the fact the NY media is literally ruthless in their determination to stir shit up for more clicks, likes, views, everything. I think the typical young fan or average fan knows how to tune out the nonsense and just cares to see their teams win, the other stuff off the field is just for entertainment but not to be taken seriously. The older generation is flabbergasted by the hubris of some of these young players basically running their own PR campaigns (which couldn't be done before they had access to all this social media exposure). A colorful and controversial player like OBJ in the NY sports market was not a good mix for a team with an owner and management that is so old school and strict. Simple as that.
