That would suck. He likely can be had for a second rounder
The extra first doesn't mean they would trade it for Rosen. I would, but it could just make them more comfortable trading #37. But JonC says they don't think Rosen's personality is a good fit.
He's a third at best right now. You dont give 1st round picks to a guy who literally showed 0 life in year 1. His rookie contract older now, he takes up more cap space, etc. based on that metric alone, he is not worth a 1st round pick because of the guaranteed 5th year 1st rounders get.
he's a 2nd round pick at best because he's now 1 year closer to free agency and 2nd rounders dont have the extra guaranteed year.
Now you consider his performance, he's not a 2nd round pick. third at best.
I think a 2nd will be more than enough, particularly because the 3rd is too far back. Getting #17 made the second round expendable to deal for a Rosen. I'd do it if I were the Giants.
If people think none of these things matter, they do.
It's why BAL picked Lamar Jackson at 32. QBs are expensive and if there is any chance they become good, you are gonna be on your hands and knees for that locked in 5th year guarantee.
Rosen for 17 would literally be dumbest thing any NFL GM has done in a very very long time.

We need every single pick. We still need multiple defenders and 2 OL starters and now we need a WR.
Rosen’s longevity is nil, there are better qb’s next year, and after today’s trade, we’re so much closer to the top of the draft where three if not four as good or better prospects await. Our odds of getting one next year are incredible.
If you want a more complete team build, Lauletta and the 2020 first rounder is the way to go.
Yesterday/Today: The STARTING point for OBJ is two #1s, two #2s and maybe swap third round pics...and there better be something in 2020 too
Tonight: I wouldn't offer more than the last pick in the 3rd for Rosen
That was a couple of clueless posters, not BBI. Nobody with any common sense expected two #1s for OBJ, and nobody with any common sense thinks you will get Rosen for a 3rd.
I don’t want him at all, so a third would be too much for me. And, I don’t like giving up a pick just for a one year filler. I don’t get why people are suggesting that approach. Like, what’s he going to do next year with this team? Just do the tank with Lauretta and move on.
Did I even comment on the quality of the posts? No. I'm agreeing with another poster that it's funny how posters can be about draft picks on here. That's all. Didn't even say it was awful, but is just the way it is.

Maybe #37...

after Pat Hanlon's tweet. Our 17 for Rosen.

Some lady tweeted that her Giants fan husband was swearing, and Pat tweeted back "have him call me after 4 tomorrow".
The implication being that we are making a move tomorrow.
what else could it be?
I'm just trying to decipher Pat's tweet
the implication is that there is some move happening tomorrow. any other guesses?

Dumbest thing since trading Odell anyway

Ok so you guys are just throwing shit out there
He's already had a year in the league, and is therefore more likely to be able to contribute right away. A rookie might not be able to do so.
He's a lot cheaper than Eli. Releasing Eli would save a lot of cap money that we could use on FAs, or role over to next year.

Come on -- keep up old man

Our 2 would be tough but livable
Our 17, they'd have to send Rosen and a 3rd.

It's how this site's always been since I've been here at least. Is what it is.
