Eli .....

Is not getting cut as some have foolishly suggested. Just as an fyi.
Enjoy the sub .500 career record, then.

Are building this offense around Barkley. He is there best player and the oline is significantly better. It will get even better soon enough. Why do people think Hankins tweet has to do w Eli? Unless something happened late today. It doesn't.

I think the Giants will force the “Kansas City Model” and ask Eli to groom his replacement , I just hope they don’t trade 6 and 17 to move up to 3 to get Haskins. That would annoy the hell out of me because I think he’ll be ok, but not great. Now if they try to trade up to 1...well

Can someone explain the rationale....
Tesla : 3/12/2019 10:35 pm : link
for keeping Eli at this point? We are clearly not trying to win a Championship.

I suppose if we draft a young QB you could argue it'd be helpful to have Eli mentor him, but is that the best use of $17M in cap space?

And what is the rationale if we don't draft a young QB? Eli will help us win 5 games instead of 2? How the fuck does that help us????

Agreed, if they trade up to get Murray I would be in full support of it but not trading two 1st's for Haskins.

I think if you want to build your team around a RB, the best friend he could possibly have is a WR threat.

Makes perfect sense, right? Especially one that hasn't exactly played great in several years now.
Why does Eli even want to play on this team?
exiled : 3/12/2019 10:42 pm : link
That’s the real question. It’s like they went out of their way to assemble an offense that’s a complete mismatch for Eli’s strengths.

And now they don’t even have a #1 receiver. Jesus.

That would be disappointing. I’d rather trade pick 6 and the 4th rounder for the 3rd pick to NY Jets and get Haskins or trade our 2nd round pick to AZ for Rosen.

With all due respect, you also heard OBJ would be dealt next year to make room for a new QB. Maybe with the trade done they'll get a new QB.

I have no faith in them to pick a QB this year. This team is going to do whatever it is they want. They are a rudderless ship that an over the hill GM seems to be playing games with. I'm glad DSG is having fun, because I am not.

If they are not cutting Eli or making an imminent trade, I have no earthly idea why they made this trade now instead of closer to the draft. I assumed - as Matt did - that maybe there was some method to the madness. Apparently not. What a load of crap this is.
It's good of the captain to go down with the ship
jcn56 : 3/12/2019 11:42 pm : link
I'm sure it helps to make $23M along the way.

Sad that he'll end up with a sub .500 record and the rest of the league will never let him forget it. I've always felt he was a lock for the hall, but the past couple of years have made me doubt that, and if this season is as bad as I think it's going to be then Eli's chances are going to shit.
Heck he may get an extension now

Daniel Jones?
Go Terps : 3/12/2019 11:47 pm : link
The front office has had a good couple days but we're still not out of the woods with this group. Their collective work (hiring Shurmur, signing Beckham and Solder, drafting Barkley) is still a huge net negative despite what have been a good couple days.

Daniel Jones shows that the old ways are alive and well. The Cutcliffe connection at work.

The Eli thing with the fans bitching has gotten disgusting and I don’t mean because Eli deserves better. He’s fine he can take it. I mean it’s literally nauseating and absurd to see fans so upset that Eli is still the qb. It’s got to be the most unnecessary display of angst from a fan base I’ve ever seen.

Im in the minority. I don't feel this trade dooms the Giants this year. I really don't. In fact I think, despite popular opinion, it may end up being beneficial. Either way. Shurmer was Odells biggest defender, until years end. Now he wanted him gone. Odell couldn't stay here when he pulled the crap he pulled at years end

is going to put up an atrocious season this year, even behind a pretty good OL.

By ESPN's QBR he'll finish about 33rd out of the 32 starting QBs in this league.

It's going to be real real ugly, and I hope I'm wrong.

I think he'll be atrocious but I think his stats will show him as a mediocre QB once again. The reason is that he's going to throw for a ton of late game yards against prevent defenses in games were are being blown out by halftime.
