Yes, it is ok to be emotional. Yes, its ok to question motives and direction. Its ok to be upset we lost a great player and a fan favorite....
But my god. Are you people realizing what you are saying... We have grown men literally in tears. We have people still complaining about the Barkley pick. We have posters wanting to be Browns fans. We have a moderator who wants to be either an eagles or jets fan! We have people already discussing the 2020 draft. We have posters who said they wont watch a game this year. We have a poster on record saying he wont go to a Giants game if Eli is QB.
Just head scratching, mind boggling stuff here. Guess what everyone....... we are going to be fine. Life is going to go on. Football games will be played. The rebuild is going on. This is what everyone wanted!!!!
Yes I know our future QB isnt on the roster. But he will be either this year or next year. We dont have a defense, and it may be historically bad. Its fine. We have a shit load of picks to fix that. We are establishing an OL, we will have cap space out of our wazoo in the upcoming years. We are most likely going to have a high draft pick this year. We werent an Odell Beckham away from competing. And we sure as hell didnt compete when he was here anyways.
Lets not forget our skill receivers in 2011 SB run. Late first rounder, UDFA, and the last pick in the 3rd round, and an UDFA TE. In 2007, we traded for a WR, two more WRs drafted in the 2nd round, and a 5th round TE rookie. Perspective people.
I am pumped for the future. I dont know whats going to happen. We have two first round picks for the first time since, I dont even know when? 10 more picks after that. We have an offense centered around Barkley. We have EE. Ball control, smash mouth offense is coming back! And thats perfectly fine for me.
But come on people. We have been complaining for years that a rebuild is needed. Well here it is people. Lets put our pants back on. Lets see what the draft brings us. And damn it, if you dont want to cheer for the Giants like many of you have proclaimed... get the hell out....
Its a new start for the New York Giants.... I for one, am excited.
If people are quibbling about a mid third round pick vs late 3rd round pick, it is nitpicking. There was no way in hell they were getting 2 1st and a 2nd for Odell. It was fantasy.
But getting Peppers is a good get. He steps right in and he can actually play that hybrid SS/LB position, I think.
Now to diverge - I think Eli should be let go to save an additional $17 mill.
I think EE is going to blossom into a better player. I think we are gonna look at a WR in the draft as well. Lets lock SS into the slot and keep him there and help a new young QB (while not breaking hte bank for him!)
Id like to see maybe a new RB is Gallman isnt the answer as the backup and lets run the shit out of the ball and do ball control for a while.
The last 4 games of 2018 we went 2-2 with 2 loses by 1 point....all without OBJ. Our O Line should be better this year, our defense will be fortified through the draft and I am hoping we draft or trade for our future QB.
I have to believe the rebuild will be smart and we select quality players with our 12 draft picks.
I expect, Marcus Golden, Daryl Williams to be signed tomorrow.
My biggest concern is who will replace OBJ?
* Shurmur and Gettleman know more about team dynamics than we do
* OBJ wasn't psyched to share the spotlight with Saquon
* having more draft picks is always good

Agree on all fronts.
Separately, this has no bearing on the Eli succession. That’s how DG and PS will ultimately be judged.
Why not!?
The defense was good and 2016 Eli played well Odell played well the giants failed miserably in the playoffs.
At the end of the day following a professional football team is really just following a story.
The story just got more interesting.
It's more than just a hoping for wins....
... fandon is more than a win/lose sequence of events.
Barkley adds an amazing amount of entertainment value win or lose as does events like today.
We all want to win. Where all emotionally invested or we wouldn't be posting on a Web page like this.
But at the end of the day we're here for the entertainment and today is entertaining.
Go Giants!

The Odell and Saqoun take is a flat out lie. They're extremely close.

* OBJ wasn't psyched to share the spotlight with Saquon
id like to know why this keeps coming up when it was OBJ who was one of the first Giants to call and congratulate Saquon when he was drafted saying " we talked about this.. we spoke it into existence " and I have clearly seen OBJ celebrate when Saquon scored or did something on field. They also trained together on the West Coast...
so I dont know why this narrative keeps being touted..
Some of us root for the Giants, others are pulling for players. The Giants just got much worse as a team.
I guess you didn’t watch the Patriots this postseason. Fullback and double tight end set worked pretty well for them.

Ah yes, the old follow the Patriots line.

OBJ did not share the spotlight with SB in 2018, rather he lost the spotlight to SB...

Oh yeah, and then there's the laundry list of teams who emulate the Patriots with great success, like the... uh, ...

Wake me up when we're as well coached, managed, ran, as the Pats are in any sense of the word and any aspect of the game or business.
Multiple ways to win. Smashmouth is still on the list.

Except for the Tennessee game, they did pretty well without Odell, iirc.

Not really when one team, the best team of the past 20 years, is the only one to do it.
Multiple ways to win. Smashmouth is still on the list.
Yea the smashmouth football won the Super Bowl, not the fact that the defense saved them from only scoring 13 points.
Adderley at 37
Shurmur will be the first to go if this plan doesn't work and he'll probably have the least say in it.

Did nothing to dispute the fact the Patriots played smashmouth football and won a championship because of it.

Catch the KC game? It worked in that game too.
Excited about this? Okay.

The Patriots threw the ball nearly 50 times for 350 yards. That's smash mouth football to you?

Threw it 46 times.
Ran it 47 times for 170 +.
Patriots controlled the clock the whole first half and kept KC’s offense off the field.
Absolutely can play smashmouth football and pass off it. Not talking about a triple option here.
For probably the millionth time, we are not the Patriots.

Dude did you watch that game? They came out running the ball like crazy to cotnrol the clock and wear KC’s front down.
The Patriots didn’t invent smashmouth football. But they recognized it was their best path towards success.
If the argument against it is “well the Patriots did it no one else can” i’m sorry but thats fucking stupid.
Multiple ways to win.

Point to me the last "smash mouth" team other than the Patriots to win a Super Bowl.
Move on.

7 of the top 10 rushing teams made the playoffs this year.
What else needs to be said?
I also think having Rosen at QB could be very intriguing.
Big Eli fan, but I realize the organization comes first - as evident by this OBJ trade......

Teams run the ball to hold a lead.
Teams DO NOT run the ball the get the lead.
So naturally teams that are often in the lead will have better rushing stats, and those teams make the playoffs...
You need to be careful about which way the causation arrow is pointing.
Do you seriously think the WR corps will not change between now and week 1?
Should be a piece of cake....not sure why we're all so worried about our receiving corps! Thanks dep!

You mean 2011 WR corps.
How’s is that different than for the 16 of the last 32 games OBJ missed with injuries?

It will be ok. Trust me.
As far as people rooting for players over the Giants... last night certainly proved it. And it’s a little early to say we got worst. Being that we weren’t really good with him anyways...
