I’m told the picks flipped in Olivier Vernon/Kevin Zeitler trade between Giants-Browns revert back as part of last night’s blockbuster.
So ultimately, deal is OBJ and Vernon for Zeitler, Peppers, 17th overall and 95th overall (New England’s pick).
NYG get 133 back, Browns 155

Yep. Isn’t this what the majority of this board has been calling for the past several seasons.
Or a better 3.

Right. Folks wanted a complete reboot, which it appears we are headed for. Now, they are mad about it. I guess mad about the compensation. But, if you are rebuilding, trading OBJ makes sense. But, so does dumping Eli.

Agreed. I didn't want to trade him, but we needed a lot more at a minimum. "Unflipping" the picks isn't nearly enough.

Who was the Senior Bowl MVP? Might as well make it three years in a row.
Daniel Jones

Yes 8mdeed, I will take this too! Every little bit helps.

This is the deepest DL and OL draft in a decade!
I disagree. Eli still easily had at least two good years left, just like Rivers and Ben. You saw how he played in second half after we got JBrown.

Remember, if the Cardinals are getting Murray, they have to get rid of Rosen. And if the scouts feel that Rosen is right there with a Haskins or Lock, I'd rather use a 3rd rounder on a trade to bring him in and use the 2 firsts and the 2nd to reload the defense and the mid round picks on the WRs.
To me, the worst possible move is packaging 6 and 17 to move up for Haskins.

I'll give Gettleman one benefit of the doubt, if he was going to cut Eli immediately he wouldn't have gotten the job.
This is kind of my thought. I really wish he could have gotten their 2 instead of or accompanied by their shitty 3rd.
Quote:
who came in here with a 36 year old QB in complete decline who just won 3 games would have cut him, drafted Darnold and then, even if he made all the bonehead moves DG made last year, would have come into this offseason with his QB situation under control and an additional $28 Million in cap space. Probably would have had a higher draft pick this year too. The pain would be over and we'd be building towards a championship instead of working on year two of a teardown.

Well, he can certainly cut Eli now and probably should,
just start over now. There is no sense keeping him here.
I agree Jon... but I have to think they see that he hasn't had that "extra gear" he displayed before that injury. If he doesn't get that back I am OK with what we got. If he does get it back... I will be (very) bummed.

I'm not sure why people keep saying this. Gettleman has already stated that he likes the KC/Mahomes model of having a young QB sit and mentor behind a good and experienced starting QB. Unless he reties Eli is not going anywhere in 2019.
Or use picks to get players to put around Manning so he can take another shot.
Remember that rookies, even 2nd, 3rd and 4th picks need time to develop
Didn't DG say that he wanted to pick his franchise QB this year, and that you could only find them in the first round?
No one wants to give up 1st and 2nd, but if you can get the guy you most think will occupy the most important position on the team for next ten years, it's hard to pass that up.
Next year if they only have the 16th pick in the first round they'll just have to settle for whatever QBs are still around, and they'll still probably have to trade up.
We got the pick they got from SF.

Gettleman also said "I didn't sign Odell to trade him'.
The Giants are in total rebuild now. I like Matt SGS post
above, about possibly getting Rosen. If the Cardinals
draft Murray, the Giants make a play on Rosen.
I would try a 3rd and 5th for him (try to hold on to 2nd)

Or at least the Browns actual 3rd not the one they got from New England. How do you not pull that off in a negotiation??? How!?

One big common theme for DG both in Carolina and here is changing the character of a team. Almost all the guys DG has moved on from big players included all had some sort of attitude or I instead of team.
I dont know if Rosen fits that mold or not because there is alot of conflicting information on his personality but DG and the Giants likely have formed an opinion on that by now.
Not sure that it was the last time, but in 1984 the Giants had two 1st round picks and took Carl Banks and William Roberts. That worked that fine.

I hear ya, we just don't know what's true and what's not... lol. I think after they shopped OBj last year they fully expected to keep him. But then he started pulling some antics.... They said as much.
On Rosen? I am 100% on board with that. I really don't think the FO is looking at this as an option... but even if it were to go down (and I would be PSYCHED to have Rosen and Barkley from last years draft!) I still don't see them dropping Eli. I think he leaves on his own, they restructure, or he is cut loose after next season.

Bet they give AZ their 2nd and 3rd for Rosen, which I am fine with. Two 1sts for the D, and Rosen. I'll take it
