to rise up and play like the first round pick he was drafted to become. If by some chance this could happen, we may not miss OBJ as much.
Wide receivers often take two years to mature, so maybe there is hope, right? Or is he really a hopeless cause?
For the record, I’m moving forward now, not sulking anymore. I’m a GIANTS fan and root for my team. Guys like Peppers and Coleman are part of my team. OBJ isn’t anymore. I wish him well in Cleveland but I wish Coleman even more success in NY.
He was also released by the Bills whose best receiver at the time was Zay Jones.
agreed, but his opportunities were limited in a short amount of time. He definitely flashed as a returner....its possible they have something here. As you know, it takes some people 3 years + to figure it out.
I still remember Amani Toomer. We wanted him crucified after two years. Look what he then did.
They didn't really try to get through to him. IIRC, they picked him up off waivers and then cut him 1-2 weeks later after trading for Josh Gordon. And they also had Edelman returning from suspension.
I think you will see a change in how the WR corps is structured. Gettlemen likes big WR's- Funches and Benjamin were picks of his. I think EE moves outside more andfills that big role but Metcalfe could be that WR. He looks like a Julio Jones again..
Not going to make people forget about OBJ, but Ginn has had a decent career as a WR since leaving MIA & SF.
From 2013-17 he averaged 40 rec 600 yds and 4.5 TDs per year while averaging over 15 yards/rec. That's good production for a 3rd WR and if the Giants can turn a waiver wire pickup into that, I'd be thrilled.
It's hard to take your thread seriously when you make a statement like this.
There are literally thousands of football players that were "elite" in college, but were scrubs in the NFL that had very short careers.
I'm hoping for the best regarding Coleman. But the Giants are his 4th or 5th team. It's highly unlikely that he's going to become even an average WR.

And you know, if the Pats can't get through to someone, then it's perfectly reasonable to expect the Giants to succeed where BB failed.

They didn't really try to get through to him?
Does Belichick strike you as the kind of guy you'd say that about?
Sounds a lot more like 'this is the best we can do for the next couple of weeks, and after that this guy is out of here'.

Was he not an elite college player? So why can’t he grow to be such in the nfl?

Oh, I was very serious Jim.

They took a flyer on him for a week, then a better option (Gordon) fell in their lap.
Yup. I expect a WR early in this draft.
