I said last night that I thought the OBJ trade increases the chance that Lock will be taken at #6. But I think that's wrong. I think Gettleman will instead try and fix everything but QB this year, and also next year in FA when he'll have a ton of money. He'll then be less concerned about giving up draft capital to move up and take a QB. I think the Giants will only take a QB this year if someone really falls to the point where it's just too much to pass up. And although I would prefer they do so, I don't think the Giants will trade for Rosen.
That's my thinking too.
Use the two 1's and the 2nd to get three top players and wait till next year to get the QB and a much better one than available now as well IMO.
Lawrence is 2021.
After yesterday, I think he s waiting.
Thanks goodness we finally have the cap space to extend him.
So I think the QB solution should still be evolving. I would suggest:
A. Definitely draft a QB this year in round 2
B. Trade for a QB (Driskel), and play him
C. If not B, play Lauletta as the starter
D. If not B or C, go with A right away
E. Keep Lauletta as back-up or Tanney or find QB on market
Cut Eli, sign a RT.
Not likely, but one can dream.
That would really offset all of the good work done this past 16 hours.
Sign T Williams
Eli may or may not stick around for 2020, but I would not bet against it. Even 2021 isn't out of the question for Eli.
There's also a chance the Giants will go in another direction and wait to select their Quarterback of the Future until the 2020 draft. That seems less likely, but if it happens the Giants would likely still move on from Manning at the end of the season and bring in a low-cost veteran to be a placeholder until the rookie quarterback is ready to go.
