Giants have private meeting with OT Cody Ford

Jints in Carolina : 3/13/2019 9:09 am
Oklahoma Pro Day is not all about quarterback Kyler Murray.

Certainly not for the Giants.

Offensive tackle Cody Ford had dinner Tuesday night with Giants offensive line coach Hal Hunter, a source with knowledge of the team’s interest in the projected first-round draft pick told NJ Advance Media.

I think they
Sammo85 : 3/13/2019 9:11 am : link
have eyes on an OL with 17.

Get a premier defender at 6.
No Daryl Williams

I would take him at 17 or at least consider him
I didn't even realize he could play OT
Andy in Boston : 3/13/2019 9:11 am : link
was he a guard or tackle for Oklahoma this year?

RT
Don’t some media talent evaluators see him more as a Guard?

Yes
ryanmkeane : 3/13/2019 9:13 am : link
...would love him at #17
6'4 330 is OG size
JonC : 3/13/2019 9:15 am : link
and talk of him being better suited to OG in the NFL.
This is what I've been saying RE: Daryl Williams
mittenedman : 3/13/2019 9:15 am : link
The way the Giants are operating - why sign Williams to a max contract when they can draft a RT?

Not only did Gettleman draft Williams, he drafted Taylor Moton who replaced Williams and is now a stud for the Panthers.

As Pat Shurmur said - DG loves scouting OL.
I was shocked at how...
Ryan : 3/13/2019 9:15 am : link
...poorly he tested at the combine. Doesn't erase what's on the tape but I'm sure it made them pop it back in for another go around.
He'd
AcidTest : 3/13/2019 9:16 am : link
be a great pick at #17.

all this guard/tackle stuff...i get it. but if the dude can play i'm sure he can play right tackle. he can shed a little weight.

Due diligence. Wherever he's projected, you do the research regardless.

It's a mobility, physical reach issue, usually. Some things simply can't be worked around at this level.
I love Ford
Jay on the Island : 3/13/2019 10:14 am : link
but if the Giants don't feel that he is a good fit at OT then I don't see the sense in using a 1st round pick on him with Will Hernandez and Zeitler at guard. Guard is no longer a need.

DG loves size guys especially in the OL . Ford checks alot of the boxes. I trust his eye on the trenches he doesnt miss much there.

They wouldn't be meeting with him if they didn't think he had the feet to play OT at this point with Zietler and Hernandez
I'd like to agree
JonC : 3/13/2019 1:47 pm : link
but his draft profile reads OG to me.
Ford is a viable option at #17....
