She’s saying this all happened because of Pat Shurmur.
The old regime, Reese, Ross and Coughlin covered for OBJ as much as possible with all his antics and that bled into McAdoo doing the same, but Pat Shurmur isn’t having any of it. Beckham has ruled the roost for too long.
He stuck his neck out for Odell when the franchise wanted to move on from him last season. That Eagles game where OBJ walked out before half time Odell told Shurmur, “fuck you” twice. He told the media he needed an IV.
She mentioned Pat told the media at the combine he’s looking for players that respect the coach and that they get along.
She then said the Giants are more committed to Pat Shurmur being head coach of the Giants than Odell being the star wideout.
anyway, I found it interesting and I agree with the move now, no player is bigger than the team.
So he told the coach to go fuck himself and this went completely unheard of until today? The NY media, of all places, who practically followed OBJ around his entire tenure here, kept it quiet until this point?
Exactly.
They just don't want a Dolan situation on there hands for the backlash.
They don't have any balls.

Yup - remember Plax? It's only after he shot himself that all of a sudden he was a gun toting lunatic running around the streets of NYC opening fire on passing vehicles.

gets run out of town.

and it likely turned out both things were true. Odell did go in for IV's - but he also made a statement by doing so going in early. Missing the final 4 games is what shouldn't be overlooked here.
By the way - this isn't a usual MO of the team. They don't go on bad-mouthing their former players.
Regardless of how you feel about Shurmur thats the right attitude.
I don't care how good he was. Let someone else deal with him. It's the ultimate team sport.
Correct. But people are blinded by the talent.
Do i think we got enough? Absolutely not. Could we have gotten more? Probably not. I think we were committed to trading him and this was the best we could get. I don't think OBJ coming back was a realistic option and i'm sure more of that will come out.
Exactly...It hurt Coughlin too. The fighting with Norman during the game and TC not pulling him out was mystical. Too many things for too long a period.

here who would verbally abuse anyone who dared question those IVs. What an absolute embarrassment for all involved.
He absolutely went in for IV's. Verified by several people I know.
It also doesn't preclude him from yelling at the coach as he goes in for them.
Hardly West Coast, hardly a warmer climate. Hardly a media hotbed. Hardly home of the Hollywood types.
Mara, Tisch, Gettleman, Shurmer say "Fuck you too".
Time to move on and rebuild this Giants team.
certainly made it a difficult task to move on from him.
It's Barkleys team now the offense will be built around
him who has his head on straight and an equally great
talent . OBJ gave us some thrills for sure and its
tough to see him go and I wish him the best .
We have 12 draft picks to use to rebuild . I trust DG
with this rebuild . The draft can't come soon enough
...the fact that they also get a 1st, 3rd and Peppers for it is a fucking coup.
Knowing DG & Mara, I have zero doubt they would've cut him for nothing if they could.
He's toxic. They were done with him.

reported. You don't just trade Odell because the browns offered a first and third. People need to wrap their heads around the fact he was a bigger problem behind the scenes then was reported.
Exactly.
Agreed and any fan that wants to cry about the Beckham trade should get off this site and become a Browns fan. Now! Go!

You're entitled to that and maybe you're right but I'm still not buying it, and forgive me if I don't take a random person's word for it on the internet.
And makes the haul they got in return for Beckham quite nice.
Anyone who sees OBJ as a winning player is blind. You cannot win with him.
Use that information as you wish. Ignore it if you'd like.

JCN, I disagree here about the "spin" you are saying. Jay Glazer reported the same thing saying Shurmur defended OBJ last offeseason because he felt he could get OBJ's buyin. The interview, the bs about IV's, the "injury" etc. all led to his last remaining supporter to say this is done.
As a fan I turned on OBJ when..He fake peed like a dog on the field, Had a romance with a kicking net and finally when he pulled a Cam Newton during the onside kick, I have seen enough him. Good Luck in Cleveland..
It's just common sense that something was going on that the team just couldn't put up with. It doesn't really matter what that was now that he's gone. I remember how the Giants had to get rid of Shockey.
actually maybe it is this
Great franchise or not GIANTS are now an embarrassment
and if you are the best WR in the league why should you give them any respect?

By the way - this isn't a usual MO of the team. They don't go on bad-mouthing their former players.
They have done it for years.
they have not. They had a prime chance to do it to JPP and didn't. They never bad-mouthed Tiki or Shockey, even as Tiki started running his yap.
Who are some of the guys they threw shade on after they left?
Quote:
I didn't know about the "FU." That would change a lot IMO. If true, then the Giants had to get what they could and move on. It certainly sounds as if there were other incidents we are unaware of, and that the Giants tried for several years to make things work. But the players can't be running the team.

Shockey is an excellent comparison.

of how you feel about Shurmur and Beckham, if true, you simply cannot have the players running the asylum. If that happens, you never win.

No. Actually I vividly remember Plax clearly screaming at Coughlin on camera in a game vs. the Niners earlier that year, "I do whatever the f--- I want".
Use that information as you wish. Ignore it if you'd like.
I believed the IV thing to be true...
Yep, shame on Schurmur for assuming Beckham was a fucking adult.
Absolutely, They tired of his BS I don't know why that is so hard for people to get.
Have fun in Cleveland....So long, CYA
100% correct

Nope, don't remember that at all. I remember people being pissed at NY's automatic sentencing requirements and Plax sticking a pistol in the waistband of sweatpants.....
