not really anything new but somebody I trust a lot (who is not directly in the football business but is in the nightlife and influencer and agent scene) said to me "Odell is a nightmare." "The guy is legit crazy" "A diva on and off the field" "Much worse than AB"
I have been against this and still am, but I just pass this along for whatever its worth (and I realize not much).
But I did get worried when it looked like he was doing drugs in the hotel room with the skank.
I agree and I did not think I was bringing new information, but it was somebody I know who knows all the ball players hears everything, and I guess I thought maybe he is just doing so much behind the scenes we don't know about that makes it a much easier move for the guys in charge. As I said, I am against this move, think we had to have known this last year when we resigned him, but just passed along what he told me.
But I did get worried when it looked like he was doing drugs in the hotel room with the skank.
Regarding the "never heard teammates complaining about him". I have always been a firm believer that we rarely know what goes on behind closed doors. 99% of players know to play nice for the press, keep things in the locker room. Doesnt ALWAYS happen (see Pittsburgh) but for the most part I really dont think we know what goes on. Probably wont until the book is written by someone 10-20 years down the line.

Besides, being liked has never been a factor in being a good leader for an organization. In fact, you can easily say the liking of him was an added problem as guys tend to follow people they "like", even if it is contrary to what the TEAM, Management and Coaches want. BB would not put up with that shit.

I don't think the Giants move him unless they really felt they needed to get him off the roster. The drip, drip, drip of little BS starts to add up.
I also don't think the Giants had much of a choice but to sign him last fall. It ensured they had control of a valuable asset moving forward.
That would be an awesome scenario.

It's more than that though - we've heard that Shurmur himself wanted to keep OBJ onboard (before the extension) and we didn't ever hear of anything between him and McAdoo (who seemingly got into it with half the team).
No issues with TC that we were aware of either.
Could this guy have been such a bad egg, and not a shred of it come out until after he's traded?

Eric... do we really have to use the word skank? Dont we have enough issues with how we treat women today?
I would have much preferred "come dumpster"
:)
Less than zero tolerance for that, I don't care if you can catch a 90 yard bomb in between your ass cheeks
Basically, he is extremely immature, but not a bad guy. He does things like lose cars and says screw it and somebody cleans up his messes.
His teammates liked him, but he felt very disconnected with Eli Manning, but still resigned based on connecting with PS. PS wanted to keep him. I think he grew increasingly more frustrated with Eli during the TD drought, but that part is not 100 pct confirmed.
I think the Giants decided to get what they could, before he lost all value. I still hate the trade, but I think he would have been an issue this year with poor QB play.
This shit has been obvious with him from day one. People looked the other way because he played for the Giants, but the truth always was that if this asshole was on the Cowboys everyone would have been motherfucking him from day one.
It's what fans do. They look the other way when it's inconvenient to acknowledge that one of your guys might be a shithead.
Sure, teammates have consistently talked of his work ethic and being a good teammate. But off the field, any other playing ‘outing’ him for bad behavior would be a really bad look - breaking the “code”. And that’s assuming teammates would even know what he was up to when hanging out with his Hollywood buddies...I assume most wouldn’t be part of his inner circle.

This. Do don’t kid yourself. He most likely does this more often than not
Being a diva or an odd duck is one `thing, this is first time a lot of us heard about him cursing out Shurmur. Very surprising if true because the talk was that Shurmur was advocating on his behalf. Possibly the only;y one wanting to retain him.
Whatever you say. Archie
The story I got, it was more that Eli did not really speak to the younger players, what that exactly means, I'm not sure, but Eli is a good 10-12 years older than most of the offensive skill guys.
I was telling people Beckham indeed go in for an IV last year and people said he had been sent there for blowing up at the coaches. The truth is right in the middle it looks like:
Beckham cursed out Shurmur as he headed into the locker room to get an IV with a minute left in the half. He did it 3 more times last year (get the IV - don't know about cursing out Shurmur)
This shit has been obvious with him from day one. People looked the other way because he played for the Giants, but the truth always was that if this asshole was on the Cowboys everyone would have been motherfucking him from day one.

There were definitely grumblings that McAdoo (partly) lost the locker room because he let OBJ get away with a lot of shit that others couldn't and going as far as to suspend DRC. It was all of the "unnamed source" type BS, but it was there.

Forget all that crap. The guy was quoted as being lukewarm at best, with playing for the giants AFTER he signed the extension.
Beckham was displaying an untrustworthy persona. Giants couldn’t risk being in the same situation as PITT this time next year.
It was time to move on. Giants did everything they could with Beckham. It’s been five years of a trend that wasn’t improving.
Granted, it the giants were winning these last five years things would likely be different today, but what can you do...
What scared me the most about OBJ is that he might drag Barkley into the gutter with him and Barkley is such a good clean cut kid. Character counts!

Well said. Last thing we needed was Saquon joining the next boat trip
I couldn't believe how he could make a scene on the field during a game throwing a very immature tantrum and taking it out on a kicking net then in another game asking the net to marry him with the cameras on him. He was a me me me guy and definitely not a team player.
I'm glad he won't have a chance for his crap to rub off on Barkley. I doubt we can blame the GM for this as it likely came from higher up.
