It will be interesting if the OBJ drama

mitch300 : 3/13/2019 12:35 pm
dies down in the media now that he left N.Y. Let's face it anything he said or did was all over the media. Will that change being in Cleveland. Time will tell.
Cleveland will definitely be an interesting

team to watch this year
If he does attempt

to use any leverage to get more money (like AB did) after the trade, it will make all this look a lot better for the Giants in my opinion.
I have a slightly different take

I always felt that Odell was able manipulate the media in order to build up his brand. In other words, he played them at times.

OBJ is used to being the center of the attention.

He just left the media capitol of the world for Ohio. There will be no wining and dining in Manhattan.
I'm just waiting to see how long it will take for him and his buddy

Landry to turn on Baker. All it will take is a bad game or two, or a game where they don't get the ball as much as they think they should
Browns fans have suffered enough through the years

But nothing would make me happier then see them go the way of the 2011 Eagles.

Remember, the best team in the history of the NFL?
The OBJ drama was almost always because the guy hates losing...

Put him on a winning team with a hefty contract and you likely won't hear a peep from him.

His first team-related quote might very well be that Mayfield is the best QB he’s ever played with. You can almost book that

I find that very hard to believe. Odell loves him some Odell.

You are correct, he will absolutely take a shot at Eli.
Freddy Kitchens

has almost a mission impossible job. This group of lunatics that have been collected. The fan expectations after being a dogshit franchise for 20 years after coming back as an expansion team. Right now, you'd have to think that the expectations are the Browns to win the AFC Central and meet the Patriots in the playoffs. Anything less is a failure. Good luck with that.

That's BS, what he hates is not being the center of attention, all that sideline crap was all about "look at me"!
You think the rest of those guys don't hate losing as much as he does, you're kidding yourself.

If he hates losing why did he bitch out from diving for that onside kick against the Bears?

He hates NY anyway. Made that perfectly clear. He'll spend all his time in LA and they'll have to drag him back to CLE and hope he decides to participate.

Yup - I cannot imagine having to put up with both OBJ & Landry together, validating each other. Coach's nightmare.

He's going to kep his stardom, and just spend a little more time on the road in LA and NY.

It is indeed absolute bullshit. The Giants finished the 2016 season on a 9-2 run, qualified for the playoffs, and then we got the boat nonsense followed by the shirtless pre-game on Lambeau Field (followed by a complete no-show).

The Guy Who Just Wants to Win had a chance to win a playoff game that day, but he put more effort into his social media presence than his game performance.

I agree, but he became a media sensation overnight because of that one catch. I bet you he's become addicted to the spotlight regardless of what he publicly claims. He may run off to LA, but he's still got to spend five long months in Cleveland.

The Browns will be better and more exciting than the Giants, but who still will get more media coverage?
We're in agreement
mittenedman : 3/13/2019 1:08 pm : link
Eric. I just don't think he'll miss Manhattan/NY. He's not a NY kind of guy. He's perfect in LA. Never seen a guy that went Hollywood worse than Beckham. It's sad IMO.

I remember him complaining about everyone wanting to see him dance when they saw him. His lack of self-awareness makes me cringe. He is basically a clown because that's how he decided to act, and people treat him like one. He chose to become a dancing bear.

When I really started to sour on OBJ was at training camp last year. Every single ball that went OBJ's way during practice you had HUNDREDS of kids screaming "1 HANDED!!!!!!!!" and would BOO if he didn't. And he was pandering to the crowd the whole time. It was honestly sad.

We live in a different age. You do not have to play in a major city to be a media sensation. Did LeBron James suffer from a lack of exposure when he played in Cleveland?

Browns fans and that joke of a franchise. Their fans never went away. Now they finally have enough pieces to really make some noise in the NFL.

I'm happy for Brown's fans.
I think it has a huge effect on attention a player receives by

not being in NY spotlight.

But its up to the individual player on how they utilize that media spotlight for better or worse.

Beckham surely used it to better his own fame, brand and money, but at the price of effecting an ability for a team to have a winning locker culture or organization discipline culture...a team that traditionally handles all that well w players...or dumps them.
Half the spotlight in New York vs. all of it in Cleveland?

he would still be here

to move on. I loved his talent, but he's a Cleveland Brown now. I wish him well.
