i dont see how possible that is. i mean if you want to keep him out of NFC, it means youre worried about him kicking tour fucking ass. at that point keep him becaue you identified he is a game changer
On Twitter said last night flat out said he hadn't heard that.
I like him, but I'd take his word with a grain of salt. He's bitter he was wrong about the 49ers trading for him.
He said on video last night there were better offers in the NFC.
He's more than a podcaster, he's a former scout and works for The Athletic. But I know, we don't like people with opinions that make the Giants look bad. Middlekauf - ( New Window )
Can you imagine if the Giants traded him to an NFCE team Â
This is what makes it hard to believe that the Giants are engaging in solid analytical frameworks.
You "can't win with him" but apparently are concerned that other teams can. It is illogical.
My biggest issue with this including the timing right after the AB trade screams we were a desperate counter-party. Signing him to a deal like we did and all the smoke around trading him is desperate in it's own right.
even if the source thought that was true, there would be significant subjectivity involved in judging what would constitute a "better offer" since there was another player involved in the deal (and not just easily-compared picks).
RE: Can you imagine if the Giants traded him to an NFCE team Â
I don't believe this. I can understand if they didn't want him in the NFCE, but what NFC team would have realistically had a better offer? Maybe the Lions, Packers, or Panthers? San Francisco didn't want to give up their #2. The Bucs already have a top wideout and so do the Falcons. The Redskins most likely weren't an option.
RE: He said they wouldn’t trade him in the NFC... Â
They have competed once in the last 7 years, so it's actually not too far fetched.
exactly
Even in a PERFECT world. we suck this year. take fromm in 2020 give him a year. thats AT LEAST two years. in that third year youre talking about an older barkley, solder needing to be replaced, zeitler moving to the wrong side of 30. in 3 years we prob need another year of tweaking. saying 5 years isnt insane at all. trading obj for less than worth and turning down a bigger offer from an nfc team is even more insane
Yea, Barkley is year 3 or 4 will be over the hill and a shell of his former self!
Better get his old man's pajamas, pipe and rocking chair ready now!
you can laugh and talk all you want but RBs have short shelf lives in NFL and with no WRs we are going to run this guy until the fucking wheels fall off. again...i hope giants turn it around fast but we have been bad for 2 years in a row and there isnt much light at the end of the tunnel ....again turning down more from an NFC team is fucking dumb
RE: RE: Anyone who believes that Giants don't have a chance to compete Â
why did shurmur fine him last year for conduct detrimental to the team? the leaps some will take to defend this guy is beyond belief. is it possible he is a super talented, oft-injured malcontent? these things are not mutually exclusive..
This is what makes it hard to believe that the Giants are engaging in solid analytical frameworks.

We are a poorly led team.
Not really that hard to understand. The Giants after rewarding him with a great contract, were sick of his antics, it's that simple.
The only reason you wouldn't want to trade OBJ to an NFC team is because you don't want to face him in the playoffs.
But the trade in itself put the NYG in full rebuild mode. So, now you're effectively turning down a more lucrative trade to an NFC team because you don't want to play against OBJ in the playoffs, yet the NYG won't be making the fucking playoffs for a couple years at minimum due to the fact they're now in full rebuild mode because of this very trade.
By the time the NYG make the playoffs again, you shouldn't be scared of playing against a team with OBJ on it. Why? Because in the three plus years between now and when the NYG may be able to first make the playoffs again, the team surrounding both OBJ and the NYG's will be completely different. If you're STILL scared to play OBJ at that point, then that's a pretty strong hint you shouldn't have traded him to any team.
Again, if this report is true, you just got out-logic'd by a 34 year old accountant who has never played or coached football a day in his life. Pathetic.
At this point, I'd rather fire the entire front office full of so-called football minds and just hire some legitimately intelligent 20-somethings who are fans of the game and let them use their brain power to build a team and see what happens.
"untrue" on this site by Giants homerists is really alarming.
Meanwhile stories that release information are released after the fanbase is already upset about a particular course of action taken as gospel is equally alarming.
I'm having trouble understanding the psychology behind wanting to characterize the Giants as well run when the results scream otherwise.
Of course, people are picking and choosing the rumors they want to believe.

former eagles scout
You're doubting a podcaster now?!
We'd be talking suicides.
LOL!
This
I'm sure they would have made that deal.
Such a stupid trade.. can’t get over it.

Not saying this is true, but if you're truly trading him to rebuild screw PR and take the best offer out there. Don't be think skinned.

That would have been a PR disaster. At very least he had to go out of the division...and preferably the AFC.

This is correct, not limited to the NFCE.
Regardless, it's really another case of dumb to ignore a potentially more fruitful offer...
if they turned down a BETTER offer...it makes this move THAT MUCH WORSE. take the most you can get
I'm sure all of you NYG doomsayers had Cleveland pegged for a big 2019 and a great near future.
They have competed once in the last 7 years, so it's actually not too far fetched.

Hmmmm, I don't know, if there's anything Cretin684 knows a thing or two about, it's being a moron.
You seriously are the biggest asshole on this site.

Don't blame them.
