I am not a particular fan of his.....so take it for what it’s worth:
Let's see if the #Giants have trouble signing players in free agency after proving that they are willing to get rid of many of their best players. Just talked to one ex-player who said that after seeing OBJ trade: "If I were a free agent, I wouldn't go there."
What is your thoughts on this....do you think players would take this into consideration when choosing a new team?
Pat Leonard - (

The rank and file free agents are just looking for the best offer and the best situation.
The Giants being a flaming dumpster fire has more role in players coming her.
Where do I sign??
I think that's a bit of a stretch. More than a bit, actually.
The only source he has is his hand
Boiling every player down to a mercenary is just as insane as the idea that the players that hit free agency aren't likely to take the best offer they get.
There is room in the middle.
That keto or paleo?
Really somewhat of a dumb take by Leonard

Of course there's some, but the majority I'm sure follow the money.
I don’t think there’s another columnist who is more full of shit and more ignorant than Leonard. There are and have been bad columnists covering the team but he’s at the top
Plus Bucannon turned us down and it wasn't over $$$.
It's 100% happening right now....the only way we're getting FA;s to come here is to massively overpay them.
Right or wrong Gettleman is a laughing stock among the league....not sure how anyone can deny that.
Eh. Most young free agents were what 18 last time the Giants won? They’ve been around for the two Super Bowls and a lot of bad football. The iconic franchise stuff doesn’t have much pull.
There will be free agents second guessing coming to a team Gettleman runs if they have similar options elsewhere. Between Deangelo Williams and Norman trashing him on social media and the current Giants who might be upset about what’s going on, players talk.
Mike, pro players don't care about that anywhere NEAR as much as they care about $$$. This isn't high school. It's a job and they have families to feed and a short window to earn as much as they can. If anything the high cost of living in this area is the turnoff.
Not definitively, but some reporters had heard they were. Makes sense on a number of levels.

do we know if the Giants were even interested in Williams?

When I saw that one year deal, I was curious about his health.

eat turds like him for breakfast

Keto of course.. Its the new trend
"Stop coaching, Pat!"
Yeah probably not because he's always on the top of the most over-rated player in the league lists by the players.
99% of all free agent deals are determined by dollars, which includes off field opportunities, cost of living, taxes. Etc.
And Giants are not in position this year to go after any big time free agents.
The one thing DG has done well is last year’s draft - QB vs RB debate aside, we drafted an All-Pro caliber guy, 2 solid starters, an LB with starter potential, and another guy with upside in RJ (Lauletta = eh at this point)
DG needs to deliver the same draft results for 2 more years in a row and we need to find our next QB...after that, veteran free agents who want to win will have no problem signing here, and that’s when we should be playing in the big FA pool...to fill the final gaps for a contender.
He had no reported interest by any other team. No scheduled visits. It likely is that he isn't fully recovered and couldn't pass a physical at this time. Signing with the Panthers, they are familiar with his rehab and likely have no problem with the injury as they know he will be good to go by August.
It may be a factor this year, but it'll be forgotten by next year. I doubt it will prevent them from being able to sign players.
But, if the Giants want the stigma to go away and not grow, they need to be competent in achieving a rebuild.
That can change, and I think it will sooner than the loudest voices on BBI opine.

I have to admit, it has crossed my mind with Williams taking the 1-year, $7 million deal with the Panthers.

Buchannon chose Tampa before the Beckham trade.
Said this last night. When they say it isn't about the Benjamins, it is about the Benjamins......
Will it stop players from coming here, too soon to say. But players are aware.
Williams - ( New Window )
There are 30 other teams besides the Giants and Panthers. I think the more likely scenario is no team offered him what he wanted and he realized his best chance to get that contract is to stay in a system he is familiar with. But with that being said, the Giants are an unappealing franchise right now. It has to be about the money or the bright lights of the big city. Other than that, it’s loosersville.
Money won't be equal though...their agents see to that.
