The plan: Trade down from #17 pick up extra 1st next year?

WinterIsComing : 3/13/2019 5:54 pm
If we’re not going to be drafting a QB high this year or trading for Rosen, I think we almost certainly have to look to acquire draft capital for next year to trade up for a QB.

I know it’s been said DG doesn’t trade down, but in this case I think it’s the only way we would have enough ammo to trade up next year for the QB we might want. Thoughts?
Should

have just got the extra 1st from the Browns in the first place!!!!!!
I really hope that's the plan

None of the Qbs are worth it this year.
We need to pick up

Yeah! Cause they'll just give it to you if you ask nice enough!

.....Jesus Christ this board.
If they could acquire a 1st round pick in 2020

as part of a trade down then they should do it. They could also look to move their 2nd this year for a 1st next year. A team like Ravens, Packers, Raiders, Texans, or Titans would be ideal as their starting QB's are more likely to be injured or struggle IMO meaning that 2020 pick could end up being much higher than anticipated. For example the when the Texans traded up for Deshaun Watson they gave up a 1st the following year but Watson was injured and missed most of the season and that pick ended up being the 4th overall pick.

Great point on the Texans.

That’s exactly correct. All this Peppers is like another first rounder stuff is nonsense. The Browns fleeced Gettleman. At this point this is the least interested I have ever been in the Giants upcoming season. Maybe they draft a QB or get Rosen and I would be more excited but as of right now it looks to be a pretty boring season. Too many years of this
Move up next

year? They will suck even more this year, no need to move up.
yea no need to get an extra 1 next year
GiantsFan84 : 3/13/2019 6:10 pm : link
giants are going to be plenty bad and pick top 5 in a draft with 3 qbs. they won't need to trade
You'd have to trade completely out of the first round in order to get

a first rounder next year.

Trading down (but swapping firsts with another team) would get a third round pick based on recent draft years.
Trading up

next year won't be a problem for this team.
No need to accumulate picks to move up in next year’s draft.

The bungling, incompetent Giants with no plan will be on the clock the minute their 2019 season ends. They will have their pick of the litter.

However, I am sure they will fuck up this year’s draft by overpaying to move up to draft a QB bust. Then in 2020 they will have to pass on a QB that will be all fucking world.

I’m in a ‘glass bone fucking dry’ kind of mood right now.
Why would we have to trade our

Pick when we are gonna go 0 and 16 next year?
I know this is crazy
LakeGeorgeGiant : 3/13/2019 7:28 pm : link
but maybe we should just draft 2 first round players this year.
Fuck that
Matt M. : 3/13/2019 7:39 pm : link
I'd use it and draft 2 impact players in round this year. However, I fear the Giants use #17 as an invitation to overdraft a QB at #6.
I would absolutely look to acquire draft capital in 2020
Matt G : 3/13/2019 8:15 pm : link
Whether it's moving down from RD1 picks or RD5 picks, if we exit this draft with just 7 picks in 2020, it would be very disappointing
