"I tried to tell u @Giants fans Dave was your problem but u laughed and called me bitter! Well welcome to the salt wagon jump on and let’s ride together lol"
Pretty funny
Paid a guy $20 million per year, then traded him when he Â
Which I’ll admit I don’t like but see the rationale for. Exactly what personnel move in Carolina did Gettleman make that was wrong? Norman? Steve Smith? Neither of those players were going to be worth the money it was going to take to keep them.
I didn’t want to see OBJ traded but I’m sure the team has their reasons. I’ll reserve judgment until I see what the Giants do with the picks.

Teams win championships, not individual players.
He messed up with Norman, IMO. Their defense never recovered and Gettleman got canned. But the others, it was probably the right timing to cut bait. The Steve Smith cut was particularly unpopular with fans.

He tagged Norman then repealed the tag after all the other corners were off the market. He then compounded it by forcing defensive back picks in the draft, in a weak DB class because they had none.

He got canned for wanting to cut Olsen and arguing with the owner about it. Owners win, employees lose.
That Gettleman was an idiot for getting rid of those Carolina players and also wanting to cut Olsen. What compensation did Carolina get for any of those players?

Ah no, you can't make a strong argument. Nobody is an idiot for doing the job they were hired to do. Richardson liked Olsen. So he did not want him cut to save money. I cannot remember if it was a salary dump, but it had to do with cap. Players get cut all the time whether it is for cap reasons or for performance without the team getting compensation.
You can say he was an idiot for arguing with the owner, not for attempting to correct the cap.
Norman gone was the right move. The fuck. He's a corner and not a great one.
Norman was graded as the top corner in 2015. It was absolutely the right move to keep him. 2016, after he went to Washington, Carolina was 6-10, mostly in part that they had no secondary. That was on DG.
He did a commendable job in Carolina. He inherited a cap nightmare from Marty Hurney. Got the cap back into a good situation and constructed a Super Bowl appearing roster. He did make some mistakes though.
Steve Smith, D'Angelo Williams and others publicly hated on him. I was optimistic at the time, since I thought the same logic regarding popular but aging/over the hill and overpaid vets, would apply to all players on the team - including the QB.
The fact there are reports that Eli might actually not be cut, and instead return as the QB next year in light of all the personnel decisions of late is truly mind boggling and depressing if true.
With a player as big as Odell, Mara is the one making the final decision. If he wants to talk about how bad the compensation was that's one thing, but getting rid of him is ultimately not up to him in this case
I won't ever leave, while you want me to stay
Nothing you could do, that could turn me away
Hanging on every word, believing the things I heard
Being a fool
You've taken my life, so take my soul
That's what you said, and I believed it all
I wanna be with you, as long as you want me to
I won't move away
Ain't that what you said, ain't that what you said, ain't that what you said
Liar, liar, liar
May I see no night, may I see no day
If I ever leave, while you want me to stay
You can believe in me, I won't be leaving, I won't let go
Ain't that what you said, ain't that you said, ain't that what you said

He’s not a shutdown corner. He doesn’t follow the number one WR. He’s more of a zone cover 3 corner. He was in his upper 20s at the time. He wasn’t worth top dollar and Washington overpaid for him. At the time I completely thought Gettleman made the right move.
Yup DG is a real enemy of the people
Oh he's bitter. He made a video right after the AB trade titled "This is for you Dave"

He "constructed" a Super Bowl roster that was dominated by players he inherited.
