So did the moves expected on Wednesday get delayed

Mike from Ohio : 3/14/2019 7:45 am
Or did they fall through? This is not meant to be a call out thread at all, as I think we all appreciate what jtgiants and JonC bring to the table and they are often right. Just wondering what happened if any update is available.
Looks like we lost Darryl Williams

Things literally can change on a dime. In fact, do we know things haven’t really happened but simply haven’t been leaked yet?
Figure those potential signings

No we have no idea, which is why I asked the question. One of the rumored moves was signing Williams. So the questions was really “Are some of these moves just not happening now?” Or are they other moves that are still brewing?

I think all of us expect an Eli extension announcement at some point which also seems odd since it seems like that would have been more low hanging fruit for Eli and the team.

Thanks, Eric. Just as reference for anyone else who didn’t see the comment in that thread, jtgiants suggested that the moves are still in progress, but just didn’t get done yesterday.

I’ll leave this here just as a quick reference for anyone who was wondering.

The headscratcher is Williams re-signing with the Panthers for just ONE YEAR at a reported 7 mil..Is his physical recovery still in question? The Giants, it would APPEAR, would have given him more.
It's not so much the moves that I am concerned about

It's the fact that we haven't heard from our GM or ownership. You just made a blockbuster trade, fans are disarray...

Why can't you come out and make a statement?
I’m not surprised Williams took a one year prove it deal
Mike from Ohio : 3/14/2019 8:00 am : link
Due to the injury. He probably knows he can get a much bigger payday next offseason if he is fully healthy and back to form.

Aside from a trade, I am just not sure what else is left for the Giants to do ahead of the draft. There is not much in the way of marquis free agents left.

I wonder if he felt he could make more next year and feels better playing on a line with a QB who can move, which helps keep your sacks allowed number lower..
It was impacted by...
Ryan : 3/14/2019 8:04 am : link
...the Facebook outage.
jtgiants used the term "big things"
Capt. Don : 3/14/2019 8:08 am : link
and definitely implied that they would still happen just not when he anticipated.

To me, that means a trade or a surprising cut bc what free agents are still out there that would constitute "big things."

Peppers (asshat not player) said "maybe you are reading the wrong tea leaves" in that same thread. I have no idea what that means.

A statement about what? What is it you want them to say?

Spill the beans on what they are doing? Fans are always in disarray.
Possible?

If we pay the $5m to Manning and then he agrees to be traded to the Dolphins as an example - or to someone else - how would the money work?

Even if they did make a statement, all it would say is they are making moves they think are in the long term best interest of building the best roster they can and positioning themselves to compete for a championship. They will say the OBJ trade is just part of that. When they extend Eli that will also be part of it. There are no great secrets or declarations that are going to be made that will satisfy anyone who doesn't like the moves.

It seemed to me that he was implying that those who want Eli back would be happy, which many interpreted as being a contract extension.

If he proves he's healthy and still at the top of his game, he's looking at a Juwuan James type deal next offseason. My guess is team's were trying to get him at a discount in the $8-10M per season range.

Wednesday at 4:00 would be a moment we won’t forget. If you are putting stock in some words from some fan of this site, you are desperate and wanting to believe in something, anything.

May I suggest you take some Xanax and relax.....from now till draft day is a long time.
Just b/c we have "balls in the air"... Some musings...
Jim Bur(n)t : 3/14/2019 9:31 am : link
Means nothing... As I mentioned in the "Big Wed" post, perhaps just b/c we make offers or negotiate with players doesn't mean that we will land them. A bit presumptuous.

I once worked for a Fortune 10 Company whose "Leadership" would regularly say when street expectations not met, bonuses reduced & jobs cut... "but you're lucky to be working for XXX".

I get a similar sense of arrogance of the Giants brass in our pursuit of FA's. I hope that I am wrong.

Doesn't seem like it will be a FA signing, as the list of big names has dwindled significantly.

Could it be #6 and #17 for #1?

Extended meeting with Kyler at pro-day to seal the deal?

No other team more interested than the Giants apparently.

Could the Giants take a lilliputian to be their next QB?

Stay tuned amigos. Stay tuned.
Doubt it's an Eli Extension

Practically nobody on this board is clamoring for it outside of like five posters, even those who are ok with him starting in 19'.
