here is totally excited about what is going on. We basically have 3 first rounders. 2 safeties for the next 2 years (when was the last time we had 2 safeties?) We have 12 draft picks plus Sam Beal coming in. Carter looked to get better every game last year. We improved our O-Line. We have some money to spend and we have loads of options. Maybe we go Devin Smith and an Edge Rusher in the first round. Maybe we Go QB WR in first round which I am against. We need to build the defense before worrying about the offense. Barkley will score for us. This is as positive I have been about the Giants in a very long time.

Peppers has seen his most drastic improvement in the pass-coverage department in 2018. When tasked with playing man-to-man coverage in 2017, Peppers ranked 79 out of 80 graded safeties.
When covering in man concepts in 2018, Peppers is grading out with a score of 87.2 -- third-best in the NFL. His overall coverage grade ranks at 82.0, which is good for 10th in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus.

I'm with you. We were a losing team for 7 out of 8 seasons. We weren't winning with the other guys, might as well get new guys and move in a new direction. I really want an ER at 6 and a guy like White at 17. Unless the Giants fully believe in a QB at 6, that's the route I want to go. This team could be stacked in the trenches for one last year for Eli and then even more stacked when the next young QB takes over. Nothing wrong with that.

No way we get White at 17 so it would have to be White then an edge rusher. One of the top receivers would do just fine there as well.
Really a reminder not to over-react to trades in the moment. The fact of the matter is that very likely NOBODY on this board has truly scouted Peppers, even those who have followed his career closely. Most of the complaints about him as a player have pointed to production stats, which are an extremely shallow way to evaluate a young, developing player. Great article which highlights his growth and shows why he is a promising talent at the safety position with an arrow pointing up.
Murray or Haskins. Go defense heavy in this draft. Eli will surprise us all this year. I guarantee it.
Agree. There is no rational discussion anymore when discussing QB. Murray isn’t half the prospect Luck was and he’s being spoke about like he’s some one in a lifetime talent matter 1 year in a conf that plays less defense than the average flag football league.
Defense at 6. BPA will be White or Sweat most likely anyway. 17 the same.
But they are blowing this thing up. They are building through the draft. They have a generational talent in Barkley who is a terrific ambassador of this franchise.
Eli is literally the least of our problems. Draft capital and cap room in 2020 is too. This is good.

I wasn't referring to White as in I thought we would get him at 17. I would just like a dynamic LB around that pick. I'm not a draftnik so I don't know who would be in that range. I just want a stout defense from front to back.

Totally agree.. So far DG moves have been been as good or better than expected. Cannot wait for the draft and seeing us competeing next season again.
JP was touted as an extremely well rounded athlete coming out but would take some development. You can see the progress and year three should be even better.
Bethea was apparently the top pressure S in 2018 while still a solid cover S, and JP is called a swiss-army knife with top level coverage in 2018. Tho it's just been 1 yr that's a huge development in yr 2
It also makes them pretty interchangeable on the back end. Iirc much like past DCs talked about tho likely never had
Considering DG doesn't pay safeties, it's maybe the best duo we've had in decades?

He's actually the prototype of what Bettcher WANTED Collins to be for his defense.
