Considering the Giants lack of depth at WR and that we are looking at Chris Hogan, what are everyone's thoughts on Allison? Would he command a large salary?
GERONIMO ALLISON
WR, GREEN BAY PACKERS
Packers tendered restricted free agent WR Geronimo Allison at the original-round level.
Since Allison was an undrafted free agent, the Packers only have the right of first refusal and receive zero compensation should Allison sign with another team. It's a bit odd considering the Packers' lack of proven talent behind Davante Adams at receiver, but perhaps the team was liking what it saw from the rookie trio of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown, and J'Mon Moore in practice late last season. 25-year-old Allison had 20-303-2 in a little over four games before getting injured and missed the rest of the season last year. There's a real chance he gets some play on the open market.

2nd one... he has poor hands...
I chuckled.
He went undrafted, played in only 4 games, and had more than half the production Hogan had in 16 games. This is the kind of kid the Giants need. No way, I believe, that GB doesn't match on any offer unless it's ridiculous, and I don't want the Giants to get ridiculous.
No pick since he was undrafted.
Solid upside, little to no risk.
Do it.

Per draft report...

Do it.
Except you'd probably have to significantly overpay for the Pack to not match. They're pretty thin at WR outside of Adams.

Mentioned him in the Funchess thread earlier this week - I would be all over this guy. He's still young and can play. He was producing before he got hurt and was making some plays for them.

I think they like the other young guys they have... Valdes-Scantling and St. Brown. Adams busted out as a true #1 last year. Cobb will go elsewhere, and they'll probably wind up burning a pick there too at some point.
I wouldn't go nuts or back up the Brinks here, but I'd make a solid offer and see if it worked. He seemed like he was starting to "get it" last year in the early going before he got hurt. Found his way to 11 targets by game 4 and was steadily putting up 65-75 yards per game with limited looks - scored 2 times in 4 games as well.
We're going to have to look for guys like this to fill some spots - I think he'd be a nice get. But if GB really wants to keep him and will match us, then I'm not going to bend over backwards.
You'd think we'd have at least tried to find that for Eli at some point recently since it would certainly help him. Well, I guess we did - Marshall - but that failed miserably.
Would really like to bring in a big body to play outside. Latimer did alright in limited time, but I'd prefer Allison.
Wha? No we didn't.
We never had him.
when was he on the team? i dont see it in his history and regardless obviously alot has changed since when or if he was even previously with us. I think we have a tiny bit of a need a WR now..
No, he was an unrestricted free agent. To get a pick back they would have to use the franchise tag. You have to be a restricted free agent to get tendered, which requires 3 or fewer accrued seasons.
