Yes, i tend to agree there. i actually rewatched that yesterday and it ABSOLUTELY sounded like he didnt want to be in NY and that we were holding him back.

Kim I cant thank u enough for what uve done for me and my career. The side convos, the real life convos, I love u so much ! Always in ur corner and rooting for u. Were blessed to still have u in this world ! N P.S smile this aint a goodbye ! My phone will always work for u!!!
but it's not hard to see it getting to that point with another season like last year. And at that point we may have found that his trade value has already peaked and we're settling for an offer similar to what the Steelers got.
The New York Giants wide receiver spoke out on a number of issues in an interview with ESPN's Josina Anderson that ran on Sunday NFL Countdown. Perhaps most notably, Beckham admitted he's unsure if he's happy with the Giants.
"It's a tough question," Beckham said. "Obviously, I love seeing the sunshine all the time. I love, you know, I love being in L.A. I just like that atmosphere, but this is where I'm at. I remember before games, I used to get that. I used to get butterflies, like good butterflies. I was anxious. And now when I step on the field, it's something completely different. It's not butterflies.
i think people make way too much of that interview, that it was some sort of strategic plot. i get it, OBJ seems pretty sophisticated about the media, so therefore if he didn't spout the company line he must be trying to accomplish something. or maybe he was asked a question and in that moment he gave an honest answer, and didnt really plot and plan.
i do think not enough is made of how personally john mara took it. this is a business. guys get cut all the time. the Giants paid him the going rate for a WR with his talents, they didn't give him a gift. we make fun of players who take their contract offers personally, who get offended by a team not trying to keep them in free agency. in the end, that guy wanted to win as much as any player I've ever watched, even if it sometimes got the best of him. who cares if he thinks he'd like to live in LA one day. not me
in response to a coach's comment - you're indicating that you want off that team, whether you know it or not.
None of these people would last a minute in the NBA... coaches or players. Kobe Bryant once demanded a trade from the Lakers. They ignored him and most importantly FIXED the team. They won 2 more championships. If the Giants are incapable of dealing with something as unimportant as the ESPN interview, then it's questionable whether they can deal with anything.
just don't be an ungrateful dipshit and do things like the interview. I don't buy it.
Agreed. He's more responsible for the trade than anyone else.
Too bad, he's a great talent. So many great talents never realize their potential because of self-destructive traits. I wonder if he's going to end up in that category.
But he wanted to leave for LA. Whether he had reason to believe he would end up with the Rams, I have no idea. Im sure there were discussions. Now that hes in Clevelsnd, reality has set in for him. Shit, Im in Cleveland?
Just my opinion. I honestly think for whatever reason he was convinced if he were traded it would be to LA. Oops!!!
but it served as a flashpoint for a lot of aggravated people.
Missing games with an injury that they felt he was milking is one thing - but if they really got that triggered by a lousy interview, then the Giants are never going to manage to field a roster going forward. Players aren't controlled in the same manner anymore, and they're going to say and do things on social media that management doesn't like.

If the interview is the main reason he is off the team, that is an incitement of management and ownership.
Want the picture of him and his classy lady friend and all their Coke to get posted on social media.
I dont think hes a bad kid. I think hes the type of guy that will continually be a Pai. in the ass. And for all the talk of his talent he wasnt anywhere near near the talent LT was. Doesnt mean he isnt an eventual HOF level guy but yeah. LT changed football. Maybe is te nextkost talented player. But without production, results, and the off field stuff he became expendable. And yeah. It may be a mistake still but hes the reason he isnt a Giant

Yep. The game and the business are moving in a more progressive direction. It's better the Giants learn to live and deal with this now as things go more and more in that direction before they lose anyother generational talents.

Honestly I don't think he has much control over his mouth and what he says. It's called immaturity. I think he has that in spades.
I don't think he did that interview to express that he wanted to leave New York. I think he just says whatever imaginary tweet happens in his head in the moment.
I think Beckham is going to do great in Cleveland and they will win
for all the talk of character. He seems to be a guy that wants to be great more than most and wants to win more than most. That should be paramount in evaluating character.
A lot of people thought Baker Mayfield might have questionable character too. Those guys are winners not the traditional personality sense but the new versions. Guys that build their brand but put in the work too.
When that happens everyone here is going to come out and say that we had to do it or we couldn't make this work. All the things that we seem to think we "had to do" in the name of getting ourselves into this mess of a roster is starting to add up.
It is not a one way street anymore, employment doesn't work that it is always the person lower on the totem pole's fault and there needs to be this implicit reverence. Respect should be earned on an ongoing basis and i'm sorry but someone that inherited a team and fortune shouldn't get literally grandfathered into trust but this seems to be a popular opinion.
Did Beckham handle this perfectly? No. Did Mara? No. Yet everyone seems to want to act like this is Beckham's fault.
All these people saying Beckham wasn't about "team" well you know who should be more about "team" MARA. And he oversaw a big decline in our talent viability as a franchise.

Maybe there were a little more than just "professional" in their relationship?
I like Kim but it was an awkward exchange even by Twitter standards.
...until you get a look at Cleveland.

Not intentionally self distructive....

Northeastern... but we know what u meant ;-P
Southeast Ohio is that close to the Mid-West? j/k

Oh well.
Maybe he say problems with the organization that could not be address through internal channels?

That was probably the beginning of the end...

Yup, sometimes your boss just won't listen and you gotta call up Weezy and ESPN

Especially when there's only one ball split between Landrey, Hunt, OBJ, Chubb, and Njoku. at least 2-3 of them are going to be pissing and moaning
