Reportedly set to stick w/ the #Giants, Eli Manning's $17M to be earned in 2019 will raise his career earnings to $252.3M, surpassing his brother Peyton ($248M) to become the highest earning player in NFL history.

Ah, whatever
Teddy Bridgewater? Blake Bortles ?
What is the alternative right now ?
It's a combination of being a #1 overall pick when it still meant earning a fortune on the rookie contract, along with never taking a pay-reducing restructure throughout a lengthy career. But I think any reasonable fan would agree that it's surprising that Eli will eventually retire as the highest paid player in NFL history when he has had contemporaries that have been arguably more accomplished throughout his career.
I get the 17 or 24 or whatever because that has actual consequence. But lifetime? That’s irrelevant.
Ah, whatever
Yeah, big difference..brady greatest qb ever, and can do that
Eli needs the money

This is exactly right. The time to move on was last year's draft.

Eli is a single earner or income in his household. Brady isn't even the bread winner at his house. LOL
Ah, whatever
Brady takes less of a salary because he married someone that is worth more than him. Not that Eli needs more money. I think he should told him he takes a pay cut or he gets cut. Period.
His two championship runs bought him a lot of equity with this franchise.

Certainly has. Last year. This year. Next year. Etc.

what about Brady's championship? how about ben? How come the Giants paid way more for their 2 championships.. and then have how many seasons with a top 10 draft pick? When all is said and done.. Eli manning is milking the Mara's for all they can possibly afford..
So Eli could win his bet with Peyton.
saddled with the FO that agreed to pay him all of that money?
Teddy Bridgewater? Blake Bortles ?

God no not with them. What’s the point? Cut Eli for one of them and save a few million? Ok??? Why??
Why do we complicate this ? It’s easy yet fans just can’t wrap their fucking heads around it. Eli is the qb for now. When the giants find a qb in the draft they will draft that qb and he will replace Eli. It’s going to happen sooner or later, shit it could happen this April. Why this confounds and bothers so many and how it has sparked this endless and tired and loud and over the top, over fucking done narrative just blows me away.

Good for him for making the most money he could while being saddled with a shitty FO.

Paying him doesn’t make them good at building a team.

This is the shit that drives me nuts. Do you really think the problem with the giants these last 5-6 years has been Eli ?? THAT is what is wrong here???
Gimme a break already. The qb who can’t run like russel Wilson is the problem but the worst OL and the worst defense in football over that time frame isn’t. Is that it)??
Look it up, find me a worst defense. Find me a shittier OL. This isn’t made up. This isn’t myth. QBs rarely ever perform without both. Yet Eli pretty much did perform. He wasn’t bad in 2014-2015 was he? Was he that terrible in 2016? I distinctly remember him firig darts all over the packers in that playoff game. Did Eli really hold that team back when all was said n done?
I’ll give you first half 2018. Eli was bad. Can’t deny that but again, worst OL/ D in football. The guy has had little to no help here lately. But his contract is the problem?

Cardinals had a worse O-line by far. They apparently had something like 8 or 10 different starting OL lineups throughout the year. Giants defense sucked in part because they put so much top draft capital and money into the offense, and tried to fill the defense (especially LB) primarily with mid-late round picks and free agents.
I don't begrudge Eli for making as much money as he could, he deserved it. But he could have taken a bit of a pay cut for an extra legit free agent on his offensive line.

This such a worn, unsupportable talking point.
Brady takes less because he’s completely obsessed with winning championships, and understands the economics of the cap system. That doesn’t mean he agrees with all of the moves the Pats make to get better. He is just wound differently and still determined outperform his six round draft selection.
Have any of these numbnuts calculated $ per games started?
Eli is only counting 23 million.

Brady is 4th this year in cap hit and Manning is tied for 10th
Brady has lead his team to super bowl 4 of last 5 years .. he freaking deserves it
and by the way Brady is GOAT been in the league 4 YEARS LONGER and he has earned less total money than Eli Manning ..
