I was a betting man, I'd put a modest wager on him playing pretty well this year. Achilles injury recovery is more than a year long process. Modest, being the key word.
Lippett played for Michigan State after a stellar high school career where he played DB and WR. At Michigan State he was a DB as a freshman, but for the next 3 years he was a WR at Michigan.
When the Dolphins drafted him (5th round), they converted him back to Corner. He did well, making the Dolphins starting roster as a converted rookie and lead them in interceptions (and had 67 tackles).
As mentioned above, he suffered a torn Achilles which has really derailed his career. The Giants signed him last year, but he was only in one game.
He is a HUGE corner (6'2" at the 2015 Combine) and if he is finally healthy, he could be a nice surprise.
To summarize-Big Ten College WR-5th round draft pick-converted to CB by Miami-makes the starting team as a rookie CB and excels. Shows the Giants enough in 2018 to sign him for 2019.
He did, but I wouldn't have expected to him light it up in his first action since returning from a torn Achilles. Give him a training camp.
(cough) Landon Collins (cough) ;-P
And BW Webb made the choice to play elsewhere.
He wasn't turning his hips very well in the little action I witnessed last season when he lined up at corner

Did we even make a serious offer?

It’s BW fucking Webb, not Deion Sanders. Some of you guys are absurd.
