For better or for worse.
Good play action passer, while we have a newly established running game. 3 year starter. Coached by Cutcliffe. Could use a year to sit behind Eli, a friend of his, which is something the Giants seem hell bent to do. Has a little mobility in him, which Shurmur has stated he looks for. Similar demeanor as Eli.
Murray won’t be an option. Rosen would start right away, which removes Eli from the picture. Haskins doesn’t seem to have the mobility that Shurmur looks for.
Recently acquired #17, with the ammo to trade up if necessary.
I, personally, hope not. It just seems to be heading that way.
I will say, from what I’ve seen, he appears accurate. Can he succeed in the northeast weather conditions? I don’t know about that
Jones at #17 feels like a very Giants move.
Who knows? I’m just a dude
Unfortunately, I don’t have that trust level with this admin, yet
What I do think is going to happen (Not sure how I feel about it) is that they are going to trade up to 1 for Kyler Murray. No clue why I think that. Just have a gut feeling.
So, what about DG’s comments about the Kansas City model? That means grooming that guy THIS year. If that weren’t the case, you would figure they would restructure his deal and add a year so he can groom them next season. Although, I will admit, they could go into the draft hoping for a particular QB and if they don’t succeed, they could always restructure him later. So, what’s the rush? I just don’t see it playing out that way
I hope that’s the case
Starting a bunch of rookies on defense doesn't make you all in. You're not winning anything by loading up on 4th and 5th round defensive picks.
I’m concerned for your fandom

They’re gonna load up on defenders and (maybe a RT) in the draft.

People have to read between the lines of what DG says.
"We didn't sign Odel to trade him" doesn't mean he won't be traded
"The Kansas City Model" doesn't mean they are following that model
"No guts no glory" means he doesn't give a crap what anyone says in the media or our emotional temper tantrums. He's going to do what he believes is best to build a winning program (and he achieved it in Carolina). That should mean no one is safe. OBJ got traded - Eli should have his head on a swivel.

Exactly my point. They think they’re going to be good enough on offense and if they mix in what they have now plus a few rookies that might be good enough on defense. To me, that’s another half measure. And I guess they haven’t learned by now that half measures don’t work.
See we can agree on something
One good thing about going all in is that it stopped us from going crazy in 1st tier FA (the first part of this is serious, the second part sarcasm).
No offense to whomever said it, but it's fucking moronic to cling to the 'all in' mantra. Does anyone really think they wouldn't draft/acquire his replacement this year if they thought the replacement was available? There may be reasons not to go with Eli again this year, but 'all in' is not one of them.
I wouldn't expect anything different from you.
Jury is still out for me.

First time for everything :)
17 is well past the premium QB draft spot, and way too soon to take a flier. second round is an ok spot to take a flier, but this team can't afford to take a flier and give up a very valuable draft spot.
No to a QB. No to the KC model.
Isn’t 1 the highest?

Only because of Shurmur’s work with Foles(his 27 TD 2 INT year), Bradford, Bridgewater (pre-injury) and Keenum..
I don't think they're in that mode at all right now - they seem pretty content with Eli.
I expect a 1 year extension news to come sooner than later.

BB’56 drinks the Kool-Aid served up by Jints Central in gallons.
But I don’t think he’s one of the top six available QBs. I really find nothing interesting or outstanding about his skills.

He looks like a crappy Ryan Tannehill to me.
I tried to warm myself up to him a couple months ago, but I just really don't see it.

I know it’s unfair to compare and I have no basis for this, but it just feels like Dave Brown all over again.
I am warming up to Rosen in a trade. He is far better than Haskins, Jones and Murray (Murray's size is just too much of an issue to look past). Murray to me needs to be in a warm climate and preferably a dome team that plays wide open.

No matter learns shit under Eli, we've had a handful qbs "learn" under him and they sll turned out as shit. Risen is best starting day one for his own sanity

The arm strength issue doesn’t seem to bother DG and PS much, or else we wouldn’t likely have drafted Lauletta.

And they both went to Duke, a real football powerhouse. I’d rather wait until 2020 than take Jones. I’d trade for Rosen before I would draft this guy.

is in DEFCON 5 mode as it relates to getting a QB. However, I think Daniel Jones is an awful QB prospect. Reminds me of Elvis Grbac in many ways (the sum is par less than the parts).
Isn’t 1 the highest?
Indeed, I had it reversed in my head. i stand corrected.
Drafting a QB who best fits into a ball control scheme is begging for mediocrity
Quote:
without OBJ as a big deep threat. the focus seems like it will be ball control with a heavy dose of Barkley if this new OL works out. Maybe Jones fits into that scheme similar to the way Lauletta was thought too. He has the other ELI qualities with a better Ol plus Barkley and a stronger defense bieng built. Shurmur/ Shula/DG (QB gurus) were brought here with this in mind considering ELI's age. Saving picks this draft has its advantages as well. We will see and keep guessing.

+1.
Lock isn't getting past #10 (Denver). Elway loves the guy.
I think OBJ was less of a deep threat once he came back from his injury. More of a slot and medium threat and then juke hi s way for a longer gain.

So why don't we trade down with him?

I’m not sure about that anymore. Sure, it still could, but I get the feeling there is a groundswell of support for Finley and Elway is in that group.

Then miss out on an impact defense player.
Eli will refuse that deal only if he thinks he can be #1 elsewhere.
Lol drafting 3 MVPs of the Senior Bowl...3rd times the charm!
Lol just kidding Im not high on Jones would take any of Murray, Haskins or Lock over him. The Giants apparently were all over Lock at the Senior Bowl and he arguably showed the best all week and in the game (despite the MVP going to Jones)
Lol. You need to grow the fuck up.

Being free from Josh in the City's non-stop whining would almost be worth taking Jones. Almost.
I think you're pretty spot on here.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them grab a TE either but doubt it will be with one of the premium picks. I think with Shurmur's love for them and what seems like a shift to control the lines, getting a true dual threat at TE could definitely be in play.
He's not a gym shorts guy but he's kind of a coach's dream. Great mechanics, will figure out the offense and do exactly what you're asking him to. Will put in all the extra work getting on the same page with the receivers. Has a competitive toughness about him in games willing himself to move down the field. And you won't find him getting sidetracked by all the distractions that come along with NFL.
I realize I'm the only one that likes him - but I do. And more than that, I'm convinced the Giants will like him.

Imagine whining so much because the football team you root for didn’t do what YOU wanted them to do.
Good riddance. Absolute loser.
1) Cutcliffe connection
2) Jones looks and talks like Eli
3) Jones is smart and fits the mold of what the Giants want in a QB.
Please let this just be a lazy narrative.

I'm not sure what you mean. Jints Central loves these dots.
It's a bit more robust. Jones also attends the Manning's QB camp. I think he now attends as an instructor, and may have attended when he was a kid. And I know he's worked out with Eli on his own...

I think you could swing a dead cat and find a college QB who attended the Manning Passing Academy...
short hops a lot of passes, which gets compounded in the swirling winds
all signs point to decisions being made with a dart and a dartboard.
we're rebuilding, no we're not - we're signing vet WR's for big guaranteed money... no, we're all in on Eli... no we're going to draft a QB or maybe trade for Rosen.
Is anyone minding the store over there in E. Rutherford?
