Anyone Else Get A Sense That It’s Going To Be Daniel Jones?

Saos1n : 3/15/2019 7:05 am
For better or for worse.

Good play action passer, while we have a newly established running game. 3 year starter. Coached by Cutcliffe. Could use a year to sit behind Eli, a friend of his, which is something the Giants seem hell bent to do. Has a little mobility in him, which Shurmur has stated he looks for. Similar demeanor as Eli.

Murray won’t be an option. Rosen would start right away, which removes Eli from the picture. Haskins doesn’t seem to have the mobility that Shurmur looks for.

Recently acquired #17, with the ammo to trade up if necessary.

I, personally, hope not. It just seems to be heading that way.

without OBJ as a big deep threat. the focus seems like it will be ball control with a heavy dose of Barkley if this new OL works out. Maybe Jones fits into that scheme similar to the way Lauletta was thought too. He has the other ELI qualities with a better Ol plus Barkley and a stronger defense bieng built. Shurmur/ Shula/DG (QB gurus) were brought here with this in mind considering ELI's age. Saving picks this draft has its advantages as well. We will see and keep guessing.

Drafting a QB who best fits into a ball control scheme is begging for mediocrity

+1.
God I hope not
Jay on the Island : 3/15/2019 9:28 am : link
he doesn't have a high enough upside and I just see Blaine Gabbert 2.0 with this guy. If the Giants do draft him in round 1 then I will feel very bad about the future direction of this team.

Lock isn't getting past #10 (Denver). Elway loves the guy.

I think OBJ was less of a deep threat once he came back from his injury. More of a slot and medium threat and then juke hi s way for a longer gain.

So why don't we trade down with him?

I’m not sure about that anymore. Sure, it still could, but I get the feeling there is a groundswell of support for Finley and Elway is in that group.

Then miss out on an impact defense player.
No, I don't see Jones

at all at #17. I think DG will be all in on defense at #6 and #17. Probably OL at #37 anad then with the 4s and 5s. I'd look WR at 95.
The Giants want to give Eli a graceful exit strategy. I think it will
Ivan15 : 3/15/2019 10:12 am : link
Come through a contract extension, lowering his cap number and an opportunity to hold off a challenger for as long as he can, then be the backup for the remainder of his contract.

Eli will refuse that deal only if he thinks he can be #1 elsewhere.
I can see NYG

Liking Jones. Many similarities to Eli.

Than God help us all. Jones isn’t good, and while Haskins has his faults he would still be a first round pick in any other draft. Jones would be a day 2 guy at best in any other draft.

Lol drafting 3 MVPs of the Senior Bowl...3rd times the charm!
Lol just kidding Im not high on Jones would take any of Murray, Haskins or Lock over him. The Giants apparently were all over Lock at the Senior Bowl and he arguably showed the best all week and in the game (despite the MVP going to Jones)

Being free from Josh in the City's non-stop whining would almost be worth taking Jones. Almost.
I'd be fine with Haskins, Lock, or Jones
PatersonPlank : 3/15/2019 10:41 am : link
Honestly, can anyone on BBI tell me one is going to be a better pro than the other? Its all personal opinion. If our scouts (pro football experts) decide Jones has what it takes, and can be had at 17, then I'm in. Same with Lock at 17 (Haskins likely will be gone). Use our #6 for a stud D player, let Jones sit for a year, and go. Jones is absolutely one of the top 3 or 4 QBs in this draft (although I really don't want Murray).

I think you're pretty spot on here.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them grab a TE either but doubt it will be with one of the premium picks. I think with Shurmur's love for them and what seems like a shift to control the lines, getting a true dual threat at TE could definitely be in play.
I've thought Jones all year.
mittenedman : 3/15/2019 10:48 am : link
He's exactly what the Giants look for in a QB.

He's not a gym shorts guy but he's kind of a coach's dream. Great mechanics, will figure out the offense and do exactly what you're asking him to. Will put in all the extra work getting on the same page with the receivers. Has a competitive toughness about him in games willing himself to move down the field. And you won't find him getting sidetracked by all the distractions that come along with NFL.

I realize I'm the only one that likes him - but I do. And more than that, I'm convinced the Giants will like him.

Imagine whining so much because the football team you root for didn’t do what YOU wanted them to do.

Good riddance. Absolute loser.
Not necessarily

But it is nice to see another quarterbacks name.I thought my draft guide was defective.
I want to believe that this is just a lazy narrative

I want to believe that people are just connecting the dots.

1) Cutcliffe connection
2) Jones looks and talks like Eli
3) Jones is smart and fits the mold of what the Giants want in a QB.

Please let this just be a lazy narrative.

I'm not sure what you mean. Jints Central loves these dots.

It's a bit more robust. Jones also attends the Manning's QB camp. I think he now attends as an instructor, and may have attended when he was a kid. And I know he's worked out with Eli on his own...

I think you could swing a dead cat and find a college QB who attended the Manning Passing Academy...
I'd

be surprised, but not stunned, if the Giants took Jones at #17. The irony is he might be gone by then. But I still see the Giants passing on a QB in the first round. I'd be very hesitant about taking Jones at #17.

doesn't have a "Meadowlands" arm

short hops a lot of passes, which gets compounded in the swirling winds
I am curious how anyone could have any sense of anything

to do with this team right now.

all signs point to decisions being made with a dart and a dartboard.

we're rebuilding, no we're not - we're signing vet WR's for big guaranteed money... no, we're all in on Eli... no we're going to draft a QB or maybe trade for Rosen.

Is anyone minding the store over there in E. Rutherford?
