so far. It was a coordinated attack in two separate mosques. The main shooter went in during the Friday sermon when the mosque was packed with Muslim men, women and children and fired indiscriminately with an automatic rifle. Live streamed the whole thing with a head cam. Terrible.
Had an 80 page manifesto with racist views.
Prayers are with the victims and families.
Sick way to push your view of the world over the bodies of innocent people at worship...

He boasted that he chose to use firearms so he could influence politics in the US.
He wrote that he wanted to "create conflict between the two ideologies within the United States on the ownership of firearms in order to further the social, cultural, political and racial divide".
And he ranted about his hopes that “this conflict over the 2nd amendment and the attempted removal of firearms rights will ultimately result in a civil war that will eventually balkanize the US along political, cultural and, most importantly, racial lines.”
The suspected shooter described himself as an "ordinary white man born in Australia to a working class, low income family."
live in such fraught political times that a post about this tragedy will weirdly be viewed as political and will be removed by the admin om 3... 2... 1...

That's exactly what this sick bastard wanted to happen.
Does it really matter who or what the sick individual(s) believe they're supporting? Too often these labels are broad stroked to paint a larger portrait... I'm sure that is your intent.

Bashing mods is uncalled for. They’ve committed to keep politics from polluting and dividing the board. It’s a difficult task and they do a great job.
RE: RE: RE: Right wing terrorism. Pure and simple. Â
However, I'm not sure there is a brand of terrorism that isn't awful. and being intentionally divisive in times like this is not the way to move forward. In fact based on the reporting it sort of seems like exactly what the terrorist wanted.
At least it's now how I would move forward, I think there are more constructive ways, but this poster, and you, are free to act and say however/whatever you want.
This is a tragedy, innocent people lost their lives and maybe as foreshadowed (or as hoped for) in the rambling manifesto of the terrorist, people will politicize it.
White supremacy is a cancer that is growing worse every day. And these days they are more and more willing to act on their worst twisted impulses.
wait what??? There we go, it is now racial (instead of clearly religious targeting)... God I hate the times we live in right now.
The guy was a virulent white supremacist, allegedly donated to American white supremacy groups, and wrote an 80 page white supremacy manifesto in which he recited the 14 Words.
You guys are welcome to pick and choose how you parse all this information but there is not a tremendous amount of gray area here.
You make it political therefore it will be deleted is what I am saying. Keep it terrorist and it stays.
When this shit happens in Egypt and the Coptic Christians are killed by the dozens we call it terrorism and it happens not infrequently. Do we inject a political angle there?
does the label matter that much? There is no sane person anywhere who should look at the massacre of humans and dwell on the sick beliefs of that person/group.

When the situation is reversed, are you saying with a straight face that people here and elsewhere don’t do exactly that?

Some do. And it's just as unproductive.
