Should he be running wide out routes? He has been a hybrid to some degree. His blocking has improved but would his receiving skills improve if he no longer had to block the TE position?
We would lose the TE mismatch on LBs. But gain that big receiver (with a ton of speed) that we currently lack.
Ellison and Simonson are both better pure TEs. And we could still move Engram inside on occasion. This might be one way to improve the receiving corps(beyond Tate) without spending more FA money.
Be creative with him. I don't think he's a WR. I don't think he's a TE. I think he's a weapon.
If you didn’t benefit from that mismatch though as a tight end I don’t know if it would be the same
Absolutely. But moving him there full time would change how he practiced and his focus. He is an unusual player and ,so far, it is hard to argue we have gotten the best from him.
That would help as well. Gettleman seems to be adamant about scrubbing every fingerprint of Jerry Reese's from this team/
I haven't been a big fan overall, but he had a couple of killer games down the stretch. I'd like to see if that was just a flash in the pan, or if he's risen to a new level.
He ran the same 40 as OBJ, so he has the speed to do it.
This! Tate, Shep, Ingram.....TJ (or convince the kid from Ole Miss' DK something) to convert to TE, lol. Barkely catching out the backfield, with a hopefully improved line our O should be good.
What they should do is sign Eifert and go 2 TEs all day with Engram and Eifert.

There is a big difference when a LB or safety covers a TE vs a CB. Engram gives us a big advantage under the former scenario but you move him to a WR then the coverage is a lot better and he will be neutralized.People here think his production as a TE would carry over to WR.

Fast 40 time doesnt equate to a good WR (or football player). We need football players on this team.
Agreed. I think this idea is fantastical and beaten to death

Exactly, there’s a difference between 40 speed, quickness, and shiftiness. I’ll take a guy who is super quick and is shifty over a guy who can run a fast 40. No idea how he will pan out, but Metcalf may end up being a guy who can run straight line, but can’t get separation from corners due to his poor 3 cone drill time.
No question about it. He would be a nightmare for a DB to cover on the outside with his size speed and strength.
I have heard whispers that this is the best draft for TE's some scouts have ever seen. With that in mind:
Should the Giants elect to draft someone like T.J. Hockenson; Engram would stay at TE and the Giants could go with a 2 TE offense. (While still using EE more as a WR than a blocker)by splitting him out much the way Jimmy Graham was used by the saints.
T.J. Hockenson would strengthen the O-line thus giving our best asset (Barkley) another blocker (Much like Gronk in the superbowl); while at the same time, giving us another receiving threat who can make plays over the middle and down the field.
To those of us who saw Mark Bravaro play know its the highest of complements one can pay a TE. Mark played with the kind of nasty you just don't see in todays game anymore.
The reality is that we not going to draft T.J. Hockenson (too bad if he plays aware near Bravaro level)but that doesn't mean at some point we won't draft a solid blocking TE would has been under utilized in college as a receiver. So in Closing EE willing be playing WR this year whether we call him that or not.

EVery month? There was a thread on this yesterday.
Are you saying he should rent not buy? LOL

Engram even going to be on the 2019 team.

Every single one except for the one that he should have scrubbed first.

Enram vs DeAndre Hopkins and AJ Green - this man can run !
Disengaging at the L.O.S., you say - how 'bout if he didn't have wrestle 300 pounders to get free ?
Why would he "neutralized", he would be bigger and fastest than almost every corner in the league.
Doubt he'll still be there... you think he might?
The player who should be under scrutiny is Ellison, who needs to be a good blocker to have a place on this team, due to his limited number of receptions coupled with lack of big play ability.
plus zietler added the OL is better again, or they may need to use that pick to move up if they want haskins thou not sure at this point what DG's thoughts about haskins are thou.
and they may still need to draft a RT unless they can find one in FA that wont blow the cap space which is a huge ask with the money they spent looks like signing the rookies is best they can do now and look to draft one
Definitely. And if he is you leave him at TE where he belongs. Mismatch. He’s the biggest mismatch on the team now after Barkley.
Will he? Probably not.
Have the Giants shown any indication they want to? Not really.
