Deone Bucannon on Sirius Now

jvm52106 : 3/15/2019 12:22 pm
Deone Bucannon- chose TB over NYG for fan base, coaches, loves Arians and the area was the right place for him. Thanks the Giants for giving him a call.

TB were the first to call him and his agent and he was very appreciative of that.
Fan Base?

Huh?

Bucs have a fan base...who knew.

I was down there for the last two Giants games and the stadium was more than half blue. Guess that rabid fan base only shows up with they are playing teams within their division.

Exactly, that stadium half filled with fans from their opponent. What fans? I can buy Arians as a reason to go. And I can buy the better tax situation in Florida too.
Sounds like

with his position coach(ses) coming over to TB from AZ and Bowels being there was the big deciding factor (along with Arians).

He said "the area was right for him" :=)
He is pretty funny
jvm52106 : 3/15/2019 12:30 pm : link
to listen to. They are asking a lot about playing LB at 215 to 220 lbs. He seems pretty humble about playing and has no issue taking on guys 300/310..
wouldve been a very nice addition
KWALL2 : 3/15/2019 12:33 pm : link
Giants blew it here.

He only signed a 1 year deal with TB. Giants should have offered him more. Should have used that Tate money for this type of player.

I don't think so. He seemed to want to be with the coaches there and we can't overpay to get a guy at a position we can fill in the DRAFT.
Forget Tate money
giants#1 : 3/15/2019 12:36 pm : link
They could've signed him for Pulley $$
Link - ( New Window )
I also think they'll use
giants#1 : 3/15/2019 12:38 pm : link
Peppers in that role at least part of the time with Thomas and Bethea also on the field.

Call it a "big Nickel" if you prefer, but probably makes a lot of sense against a team like the Eagles with a receiving first TE like Ertz. If they're in 21 or 12 personnel, Giants can counter with the big nickel and Peppers should be much better than Collins in coverage on Ertz.
You're going to find
KWALL2 : 3/15/2019 12:39 pm : link
this type of player in the draft? Fine. You could find any type of player in the draft.

He wasn't expensive and he can do a lot of things. Plus hes very young. This is the type of player a team like the Giants should over pay for have been all over. They lost to a 1 year deal to TB? Thats weak.

1 year, $2,500,000 contract

They REALLY blew it.

Seems the entire NFL thinks less of Bucannon than you do.

How do you know they didnt offer more? I mean he clearly states the Giants were one of the first teams to contact him...
Not enough
KWALL2 : 3/15/2019 1:01 pm : link
He's worth much more than 2.5/year for a team like the Giants with little talent in front 7(especially athletic LBs). He fits a need. Great fit for the scheme. And hes 26.

didn’t blow anything here. Stop with the nonsense.
Oh yes

They make all the right moves is it? When did that start?

I don't feel
Bill in UT : 3/15/2019 6:52 pm : link
bad at all about not getting him.
If I were a FA
kes722 : 3/15/2019 7:15 pm : link
NO way in hell would I got to a hight tax state like NJ/NY

Let's say

NY offers 3y 30m

TB offers 3y 25m

Even though the contract is less you will still end up with more money. And that's just income tax... now add the houses cost more and property tax is highter.

It's nearly a no brainer...how we ever get a FA is beyond me.

in the play-off game in 2007 there were 2 fist fights between giant fans and one Tampa v Giant fan.

A Bucs fan did give my mother the double bird though.
