Outside linebacker Markus Golden's deal is for one year and worth up to $4.75 million, per source. It has $2.225 million guaranteed. So a value deal for the Giants hoping to get the guy with 12.5 sacks rather than the one who had 2.5 sacks last season.
But I suspect they will.

Thats why I dont see why we dont try and get a 1 yr deal with Dennard ... since Cincy snagged Webb.
He also might have accepted less money knowing that Bettcher's scheme will boost his numbers if he is healthy
Because Golden wants to get paid. He thinks he will rebound and be able to negotiate much bigger contract.

Markus Golden: "There are a lot of great things about playing for James Bettcher... I loved to play for him." Says the 3-4 scheme fits me perfectly.
As Eric said, Golden wants to be in the best position to get a Trey Flowers contract next offseason. Even if he doesn't have that sort of offseason, showing he is healthy alone would probably have doubled his salary from what the Giants got him for.

"Antoine Bethea is my big brother. I've known him for a while now." - @markusgolden
Shoot why not a 3rd year at 4.5 mil also, but only a team option! Oh wait he just signed with the Raiders damn!
So Fiddy you think a one year prove it with a serious sort of guarantee is a "plan" or direction?
Stop gap, finger in the dike more aptly put, no?

Part of his plan, his direction, is to not give out dead money-killing, multiyear contracts unless absolutely necessary. Headscratching mistake giving out that contract to OBJ, if you werent 100% all in. Hell get a reluctant pass from me on that one.
...those great teams of the mid-80s.
Much better than the Martin contract.
I'm surprised the 50 people who usually bitch about 1 year contracts haven't turned up yet, though.
