Mike Remmers just wrapped up a great visit with the New York Giants. Very good chance we could be getting something done with them in the not too distant future.

Maybe he's just "talking his book" to convince other teams that the Giants are still in the mix. I'd rather take it at face value and assume the Giants made a decent offer that didn't quite meet their expectations, so Remmers's side is keeping the bidding open.
Remmers is too old for a Markus Golden-style "prove it" deal. His tomorrow is now. If he signs a modest, short-term deal, it means that's all he could get.
Well, he's a plug-and-play OL starter, so of course he won't be cheap. But the guarantees beyond Year 1 could depend largely on his physical condition.
No way it does. This is the move he's making based on present situation. If they grab a Ford at 17, Remmers becomes starter/mentor and eventually key reserve.
Just to clarify, nothing imminent between Mike Remmers and the New York Giants. The interest is mutual and we will be staying in touch. Good chance something could happen a little further down the road.

Ok, thats perfectly clear. Moving on.
RE: If he signs does that potentially disqualify Dillard at 17?
I sure hope not. Remmers wouldnt be a long term solution in my opinion.
I look at it differently. Like any team, the Giants want to stick to their board. If an OT is in the top tier at #17 (or #37), there's a good chance he's the pick, with or without Remmers. My concern would be the prospect of forcing a high pick because the alternative is another season of Chad Wheeler.

My biggest disappointment is that it probably means one less top D guy in the first 3 picks. And if we go QB and OL, the D picks will really suffer
RE: Wonder if he's still recovering from his injury
If he was still recovering, he'd have shut his mouth and signed
Not if the Giants knew he was till recovering. He has to pass a physical for the contract to become valid. No sense in lying about your physical condition.

I agree. I'd like to think a RT is going to be one of the first three picks, but you never know how the board will play. A really great prospect could be there for the taking that isn't a RT.
Don't force a pick.
Remmers gives you insurance for at least 2019.........
Must be nice to be a Pro Athlete - Your looks dont matter
by most metrics he's been similar caliber player, probably even a little better, and has still been a RT the last few years. In 2017 pff graded him as one of the better T's in all football.

my guess is that if both sides knew there were phyical issues standing in the way of getting a deal done, jtgiants would have put a different spin on this meeting, rather than saying he expected it to be resolved this afternoon, one way or another
RE: Must be nice to be a Pro Athlete - Your looks dont matter
The giants made an offer, we were hoping for more so are going to see what else is out there , if we cant find what we are looking for in so many days then we will call them back and accept what they want to pay him..
I always felt that the only time a player would sign before he leaves the building is when they are blown away by an offer and said team says it's only good if they sign before they leave.
Let's do the bidding thing and take our time. Don't overreach more than necessary.
The Giants gave them a take it or leave it deal and they are going to shop it around a bit. What's the mystery? I'm sure there's a limit on a day or so before the window closes, but it makes sense.

This sounds likely. Or Remmers might be holding out for a gross of genuine signed #13 jerseys, rumor has it their value will one day skyrocket due to scarcity.

Not to mention all the time OBJ will have to sign said jerseys while on IR.
Remmers has an unknown injury, which could have factored into why the Vikings released after just two years on a five-year, $30 million deal. He was on the team's injury report in Week 17 with a back injury but managed to play the entire game. The Vikings may still bring Remmers back, though, just on a lesser deal, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.
It's not just athletes - do you remember that picture of Robert Kraft's girlfriend? I'm pretty sure she's not onboard for his looks or charming personality.
There is an issue there when he was not resigned by Minnesota. Who wanted to resign him for a lesser comtract Due diligence by the giants is to be expected. He is confident and we are confident if it is a nothing. If not we both move on. Agent seemed optimistic. So will I be but that is tough for Giant fans these days.

I doubt this is a medical issue. If the Giants had done their due diligence, as I assume they did, the medical part of this would have been checked out before scheduling a meeting. This is just about NYG making him an offer that he feels he can refuse.

Right. He wasn't taking the " you're injured right now" offer. What his agent said was that when he can clear a physical, they will revisit thew issue with the Giants, if there's still an opening.
We've done this before, interviewed vets early in FA, to have them leave, then sign in August (or late July, early September..) when they can pass a physical
Who knows whats going on other than Giants medical staff, FO/coach
I'm with you; not sure why all the negative reaction.

I'll wait for what jt says
No, it sounds like the agent is tempting other teams to move quickly, while also leaving the door open for the Giants.
He will not be cheap by the way.

If they couldn't get it done when they had them in the room, the odds of it happening go way down. Really, he had to go home and talk to his wife?

Right. Like he couldnt find a private place to discussthis over the phone while still in the building
Yeah. It kind of sounds like the thing you hear when you shake hands and leave an interview for every job you never got.

It's happened several times. The biggest name that comes to mind is Plaxico Burress.

It basically tells whoever else is interested to up their offer. If they wanted to sign without listening to other offers, they would have.
