The Giants will trade either Engram, Janoris, or possibly Shepard to the Patriots for the 64th pick. Other pieces may also be involved (maybe even Lauletta). I think Engram would be the most likely.
Just spitballing here, but the Patriots have been in the market for a TE and slot receiver with not much to show for it so far (off the top of my head, maybe I missed something) and they can always use another CB. On top of that, they have a ton of draft picks, so it's smart for them to sacrifice some of that draft stock for a quality veteran who can help them get back to the Super Bowl for the 4th year in a row.
The Patriots have the 56th, 64th, and 73d pick in the draft, so giving up one of those three picks wouldn't be such a bitter pill to swallow. The 64th pick is in a key spot because I anticipate a major run on interior OL in the 3rd round and it's better to be at the beginning of a run than at the end of it (which is what the 95th pick represents). Someone like Deiter has a good chance of being available with the 64th pick, but not such a good chance of being available with the 95th pick.
And Deiter would be a great young addition to the OL. He can play OG at a high level, ORT at a serviceable level, and ultimately be the team's starting OC (as I see it).
He's been a disappointment, but there's seem to be those who think the light bulb went off midseason with him......
Plus, he's under our control for three more years?
Shep makes more sense, he's a FA next year and Golden is basically going to take his slot position.
I would like to see how Shep plays on the outside first though........
I'm with you on Engram. Unless he's a locker room problem, I'd like to keep JJ. And Shep is not going to bring anything close to a 2nd. You'd be lucky to get a 4th
There's a difference between first round talent and first round picks- see Flowers, Apple, Pugh, etc. Book is still open on Engram, imo
p.s.--belated HBD!
Like I said earlier, this draft is loaded with quality interior OL who can play center or guard (and some who can play tackle as well). But the 37th pick will be too soon for them and the 95th pick will be too late.
4 out of the 5 OL positions are set. If the Giants are that hot to draft another with a top pick they can use 17 or 35, without having to give up on Engram. (I doubt seriously the Pats would consider Jenkins or Shepard for that pick.)

You must be on pins and needles waiting for some Josh Rosen news.
Not really, because I think the probability is low. But Rosen and Drew Lock are the only QBs who interest me at this point. That could change.

Thank you

Last year and the season before, when OBj was out, we split him out wide and he was not effective.....he is a one trick pony, a slot receiver.......
Cruz was the same thing.....he was a slot receiver who we split out, after we drafted Shepard....Cruz was not as effective as a wideout....
If anything, they need something more vertical.
