Still not thrilled with how things shook out

DigitaLx2001 : 3/15/2019 9:42 pm

So I made this to make me feel better. P.S. I'm not entirely... sober.
Good luck with the Giants finding a WR with the talent level ...

Get over it

You're so angry, you don't even get the joke.
While it's a huge blow to the offense,
Dave in Hoboken : 3/15/2019 9:55 pm : link
we're not winning anything this year with or without him in 2019, anyway. And as a pure fan of the sport, I'm looking forward to watching the Brown's offense. Mayfield, Beckham, Landy, Chubb. DAMN. They are loaded, and all in their prime.
What do OBJ, AJ Green, Julio Jones
djstat : 3/15/2019 9:59 pm : link
Antonio Brown, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitgerald, Andre Johnson, Randy Moss and Steve Smith all have in common? They were considered a top 3 WR at different points in their careers and not one has a Super Bowl Ring.

So losing a stud WR may not be as crippling as some of you think.

+1, better off allocating money to other areas of the team.
I think a lot of fans are just angry,
Doomster : 3/15/2019 10:49 pm : link
because he is gone....

But many more are angry the way it was handled....

It was DG who signed him to a huge contract.....To sign him to a huge 5 year contract and trade him the very next year is insanity, for a GM.....The Giants had this guy for 4 years.....they of all people should have known what a potential head case this guy was....and yet they gave him a 5 year contract, instead of using the 5th year option last year, and could have franchised him this year to trade him if they wanted too....by not following this path, they basically threw away 16M cap dollars....

The Giants themselves, created OBj......when he went beserk in that 2015 game against the Panthers, TC should have pulled him out of the game, and said,"When your head is on straight, come see me and I'll put you back in the game." He never did this, and OBj had a blank check to do whatever he wanted to do.....the die was cast....

It makes no difference now, why he was traded.....we just have to live with it....

It would have been interesting, if we fixed the OL this year, and our offense stayed healthy, to see what might have been.....

You could pick star players at any position using your argument and say that that position doesn't matter.

Plus over half the players you picked made the Super Bowl. LOL.

This +1. Out of all the positions, having a top WR is of least importance. You don't need to look any farther than last Super Bowl. Pats have zip really, and the Rams have a couple of retreads (I don't call Cooks a top WR). Run the right routes, play smart, have good hands. Thats what you need.

First off I said they had 0 rings. A top flight WR is not needed to win a championship
Who would be thrilled?

They just traded away the most talented player to walk into the building since #56. The franchise is at an all time low...

There's real truth to this. Sometimes you should make a sacrifice for an all-time talent. I'm a firm believer that truly special players put teams over the hump to win titles. You can have a collection of very good players and make the playoffs. But usually, you need the HOF games to get you over the hump to a title. I believe that OBJ was that kind of player. Unfortunately, he came to this team at a time in which that wasn't going to be likely during his prime.

And so, perhaps it was the right thing to get as much young talent as you can for him and hope you get another special player and make the roster good enough so that when the team is ready, that player will have real meaning to a team to get them back there.

The silver lining is that the Giants already have at least one such player in Saquon Barkley. He is one of the best players to ever play his position.

The challenge for the Giants now is to create a team that is good enough to make his prime years meaningful to get us back to a Super Bowl. That is likely going to depend on who they replace Eli Manning with, and how they utilize the extra draft capital they have received and the future drafted capital they will utilize in 2020 and 2021.

It hurts to have a superb talent like OBJ walk out of the building. But it doesn't mean it was the wrong decision. It was a tough decision that may or may not work out.

I will still enjoy watching what he can accomplish with Baker Mayfield and the Browns.

The upshot here is that Gettleman is building a strong foundation. The duo of Guards they have now might be tremendous. The upside there is massive.

This is an investment in the success of the Giants in 2021 and beyond. I see the plan, it's not a bad one, and I'm willing to see this one through.

Just get that QB situation right.

Right that was your point. And mine was you could say that about any position. And further, my point was that of the players you mentioned, most of them had indeed taken their team to the super bowl. So unless you're blaming those players for losing the super bowl your position that they prevent teams from making the super bowl and winning it is moot.
bravo allstarjim. you said what needed to be said and said it well

on the field and the unbelievable talent he displayed but I was always defending him and his antics. We can't replace him and I was really pissed when I heard the trade but I'm over it.

And this is why
Giantimistic : 3/16/2019 9:16 am : link
Gettleman didn’t just trade him for draft picks but for a proven ascending safety.
It cracks me

Up that everyone keeps saying we just lost the most talented player since LT and the best offensive player we ever had. I am here to remind you of this guy named Barkley.. but this theme that people are going with about never having. Another offensive player of his caliber again is funny when we already have one
