I would be surprised. Bought the H2O hate excuse; might be a chump, I didn’t want OBJ traded, but I really don’t care anymore. Bigger concern for me is ownership. I don’t think the Maras are smart and I don’t feel they respect the disgruntled NYG fans. There is no Pete Rozelle around to save them from themselves. Hope to be proved wrong but ...
it took 18 years for NFL to resolve Mara feud with franchise saver Â
unlikely? I love OBJ but I would bet my house that this happened.
Do I put it past him? Probably not.
Do I think it could happen in front of a stadium full of people - with cameras constantly on the guy, as he's preparing to go into the locker room, and not a word of it leaks out until after he's traded? That's the unlikely part.
I seem to recall a video where, after a failed offensive series and the unit was coming off the field, TC said to Plax...
"What the hell are you doing out out there? To which Plax replied...
"Whatever the fuck I want!"
I can see OBJ getting emotional and saying something similar to his HC. But this also has the smell of the Giants' PR team working overtime to try to justify the trade to their fans.

. Most don’t respect the disgruntled fans because all they do is bitch and complain.

Yeah, and Plaxico was suspended for a week for doing it. In fact, Plaxico was suspended multiple times that season.
Secondly, that was Plaxico's last season with the Giants, it was all coming to a head and then he shot himself.
the morons in our front office would have leaked this by now if true. Or if it was a significant factor in moving him.
That’s the point I was making last night. This supposedly happened in the tunnel or on the way to the tunnel. There’s cameras and people who aren’t Giants employees around. It would have leaked.

Cute. Just saying arrogance and incompetence is an ugly combination. See, e.g., Reese and Ross.
If it was confirmed that he did, what do you want to do, ship him out?
And if there was no proof it happened, does it really sound like something outside his character? He reacts to everything with seemingly too much emotion.
He is gone because the Giants believed his behavior was not worth his on field production. The argument doesn’t seem to change if you put this anecdote in or take it out.

Because if it didn’t happen pushing lies about your former player to win the PR battle isn’t a good look. It’s not a good way to do business in a relationship driven league.
RE: Can you imagine a player saying that to a coach.. Â
Beckham accumulated too many instances that ownership deemed inappropriate. I don't think the giants would just trade Beckham just because. Like Shockey, the team probability felt the relationship was at the point of no return. There are probably more details behind the scenes that we will never know.
In the end it was.probably best for Beckham and the giants to divorce.
The press just didn't report it like today, with 24 hour cable, youtube, etc.
Not to say this guy was as good as OBJ, but another first round draft choice of the Giants was "odd", you might say. Remember Joe Don Looney?
Quote:
Significantly, the man the Saturday Evening Post would later label "the marvelous misfit," also found ways to distinguish himself at the University of Oklahoma when he was off of the field. He frequently roamed the halls of his dorm naked. He consumed the writings of William Goldman and enjoyed repeat performances of a recording of Ravel's Bolero. Looney told those who complained about his musical selection that he was listening to "German march music." He also took an index finger from a cadaver body in his human anatomy class, stuck it in a matchbox and proudly displayed it to coeds.
Joe Don introduced football recruits to prostitutes, stole puppies from a dog pound, and participated in the muggings of pizza delivery boys. Coach Wilkinson had Looney see a psychiatrist. In his second year with the Sooners, Looney purposely smacked a coach in the throat with his elbow during a practice drill.
Looney was selected by the New York Giants in the first round of the 1964 draft. He left Oklahoma immediately, signed a forty thousand dollar contract and told members of the New York media that the already legendary troubles of his past were “over and done with.” Coach Allie Sherman would later compare his prized rookie to the likes of Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson. Looney, on the other hand, made less flattering comparisons of his enthusiastic coach. He sarcastically referred to Sherman as a "Little Napoleon.”
When Coach Sherman would not let Looney cut his tight pants, Looney said he would no longer punt for the team. When Sherman told Looney to follow his blockers, Looney theorized, "A good football player makes his own holes." When Looney was told to tape his ankles, he informed the team trainer that he knew his own ankles better than anyone and eagerly paid a five hundred dollar fine. Looney was late for team meals, missed team buses and failed to show up for practices. At one practice, he simply walked away from the team and began to toss a football back and forth with a little boy that happened to come walking by.
Imagine doing/saying that today. BBI and the press would be going ballistic!!
the Giants will leak fake stories to make themselves look better.
The LC situation really stank to me. Lots of fire around a 3rd round pick being offered at the time of the deadline, a week before we announced he was going to get let go. Then all of a sudden after they are panned for the move we hear it was a 4th.
Same thing with OBJ. The owner speaks out against him in the media, we get leaks of him not wanting to play. Then it’s not after he’s gone and many people pan it and here comes the f bomb story and rumors that “there is more” it feels manipulative, to sell the move they wanted to make after the fact.
Then you have Snacks where by all accounts was a great leader but we heard whispers not even specifically but that he was “bad.”
I almost wrote a thread about Hart and Flowers that year. All the puff pieces in the off-season that they were “doing everything right.” I was going to call it Giant Propoganda but I actually didn’t feel like being tonnegative about the team. But to me it seemed like they were hedging against those two sucking so they could pretend it was an honest mistake having faith in them
if they ultimately failed.
Maybe all teams do this and it’s just more prescient to me becaise I follow this one closely but regardless the fact pattern on some of these things is that they do do this and they aren’t even smart / courageous enough to do this before the moves I guess for fear that they don’t actually make the move.
I think its been confirmed by a number of different Asshats Â
Watch the colts giants game from 1990. Simms and parcells went at it on the sidelines.
yes they absolutely did go at it. I think the relationship between Parcells and Simms was much different. They yelled at each other like brothers but respected each other. No animosity.
We are absolutely in a different world today when it comes to respecting authority. Not even close. Today's players also have (for the most part) much more of a sense of entitlement.
Simms and Parcells used to go at pretty good in the heat of a game. Parcells always won the argument, as it should be.
There's a difference, as their worst spat came when they were competing, winning actually, and Simms was laying it all out there but Bill wanted more and squoze Phil till he got a FU reaction. Quite different then a played bitching off to the locker room for an IV cause he doesn't like water, or how the game was going, and throws out an FU when asked for an accounting..
And if there was no proof it happened, does it really sound like something outside his character? He reacts to everything with seemingly too much emotion.

And you are calling management liars on the basis of what, exactly, other than the fact you don't want to deal with inconvenient truths that underline YOUR narrative?
He would have been suspended immediately. Told to go home.
He decided to trade him instead. There's also the fact management would have been idiots to air it earlier. To what end? To diminish the trade value of a player they are looking to unload?
JaY Glazer makes it QUITE clear the Giants can keep their moths shut, inasmuch as he said he spoke to them a month ago, and the decision had ALREADY BEEN MADE then. All thos shreiking the Giants were knee jerk fools, asking " what happened in the past week" have not acknowledged that the decision had been made long ago.It pisses me off posters just wantonly slander management, when there is no proof they did that to Beckham what some fans are more than willing to do to management, then have the balls to question them with zero basis. Go find a source that says management released this info before you smear them.
A star player and his coach clashed?
I’m shocked this has never ever happened before!
Clashed is your description, your chosen bverbiage, chosen specifically to minimize the reality of tthe situation as alleged. One could also say he dissed his coach and shit on him in public, while bitching out and abandoning his team because hee was in a snit a used getting an IV as an excuse. and it would be just as accurate. See how that works?
P.S.- Coach, management and ownership were unanimous in their opinion my descriptors are more accurate than yours, thus his trade....
Management has thin skin...OBJ's talent and box office draw Â
exceeded his little quirks. He didn't knock a girl out. He didn't break his kid's arm. He wouldn't have been traded if we didn't need the draft capital.

He wouldn’t have been traded if they cleaned house two years ago and moved on from Eli.
Instead it’s year three of the apology tour.

Last offseason, and year two.
It feels like it’s been longer...
I don’t think this happened. OBJ actually doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to tell the coach to fuck off. He’s a fool and immature but I don’t actually think he’s a bad guy.
the Giants are partly responsible for OBj's behavior....
The Panther game in 2015, when he should have been thrown out of the game, along with Norman, TC should have pulled him from the game, and sat him down......If something had been done that day, who knows? and every coach since has turned a blind eye to the things he's done.....
He is a great player.....but he has his faults.....even with them, I was looking forward to him having a big year, along with Barkley, if the OL could have been fixed....

DG is a genuine GM. Board needs to watch his work and see where it leads. i think we’ll be pleased.
