RT situation

NJBlueTuna : 3/16/2019 2:52 pm
Think it’s fair to say wheeler cannot be the option going into this year. Barkley and the running game will be featured. If the RT that came in yesterday (forget his name( isn’t signed is this draft deep on Tackles such that a second or third rd pick can get a good tackle to start? RT is basically a mauler skill with history showing talent out of the draft can start day one and be very effective. I just don’t know how deep the talent pool is in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I do think we are moving up in the draft with our 2 1st rd licks to grab a qb. That IS the plan.
The plan is.....

1. Remmers if healthy may ink a contract
2. We should draft a tackle to push Wheeler if Remmers doesn’t come on board.
how many licks will

Draft?
NJBlueTuna : 3/16/2019 2:55 pm : link
But is it a deep draft for tackle talent?
We have to draft a T

and a C/G.
As ridiculous as it sounds

I don't see the Giants committing to any big time QB, and in my view it all has to do with being afraid to make a mistake. They are going to grab defensive linemen and pass rushers in the first round, they will continue to waste another pick on a second thru fourth round QB, give us the same line of shit they gave us before and still have the same QB hell we have had for years now. They blew it big time last season and they know it and they are afraid to commit because once they do they will get jumped if that played does not work out like Darnold. You never pass on a franchise QB and I don't give a shit who it is and what position, the QB position is by far the most important. They will stick with Eli and it is why Beckham forced his way off the team behind closed doors. He was sick of waiting for a QB. Eli is no longer a good QB and hasn't been for the last three years, the others just before them were wasted on jerry reese.
This is a strong OT class

There should be plenty of good options available for the Giants on day two. Dalton Risner, David Edwards, Yodny Cajuste, Kaleb McGary, Tytus Howard, are all possibilities on day 2. I've seen quite a few mock drafts with Greg Little falling out of round 1 also which would add another option.

I would rather sign Mike Remmers to start at RT for a year or two giving the Giants a solid option that would allow them another year to find their long term answer at RT in the draft. I would prefer to find an upgrade at center on day two in that scenario. Grab Garrett Bradbury in round 2 and then trade up in round 3 to grab either Cajuste or McGary to groom behind Remmers.

We have 12 picks. We better draft every single position on the offensive line.
We need a priority FA RT
SHO'NUFF : 3/16/2019 3:01 pm : link
and still draft a C and T. If we can get Remmers, we don't have to spend an early pick on OL.
I want Remmers

AND a day 1/2 tackle.

Yep.

I think pick 37 is the sweet spot to address the RT position.
We have to see what kind of contract they were tryign to sign him to
Pan-handler : 3/16/2019 3:37 pm : link
Was it a 'prove you are healthy' contract?

Was it a 'we know you are healthy and will pay you starter money for 3 or 4 years' ?

That will let us know how much a priority getting an additional RT via the draft will be?

Now if he doesn't sign here , depending on if we bring in another guy and what we expect from that player will determine RT priority for the draft.

I agree but at 17 we are talking a border-line stud that could fall to us in one of Dillard or Juwaan Taylor or Cody Ford. 2 of those 3 have potential to slide over to LT (which increases value quite a bit as well). I really like Risner too and while more versatile I dont think he has quite the upside those other 3 have.

If Taylor or Dillard fall to the 17th pick then the Giants would be wise to pounce. Both could start out at RT and then move over to LT when Solder's play begins to slip.
I’m thinking this is where
RAIN : 3/16/2019 4:11 pm : link
we go at #17. Dillard, Williams, or Taylor. The money tackles are making certainly justifies looking towards the draft.
I want Risner or COdy
giantstock : 3/16/2019 5:10 pm : link
Don;t think Taylor or Williams will be available at 17. Don;t like boom-or-bust oLinmen like Dillard. DOn;t need ot force this especially with SB.

Tend to think COdy will be gone too. Get Risner at 17.
Agree with Jay
TMS : 3/16/2019 5:23 pm : link
if Remmers i s not available or whatever we go with solid guy at #18 Like Dillard , Risner or Ford. These guys are versitle 10 year players that can play up and down the Ol for a long time. We are in great shape if we are not going QB this year to fix this f...ing Ol, finally, lets do it. We will get our stud DL guy at #6. Then let DG do his magic with the other 9 picks. !00 mil in cap next year. Best I have felt in years. HGD.

Ok but what if Ferrell or Wilkins are sitting there? A lot of people here (myself included) would’ve been fine with either at 6 a few months ago. Nothing has really changed.

Would be nice to get a good FA RT that doesn't stink.
