... Brian Cranston, I can’t think of any performance outside of Breaking Bad that I have enjoyed. He was absolutely brilliant in Breaking Bad. Arguably the best performance I have seen in a TV series. Am I missing something?

and people were fans of Malcolm tho I never really watched it much. I haven't seen Argo yet, heard great things about that movie tho dunno if it's just a bit part or what
Actually looking at his IMDB he's been everywhere. Small parts in 70s-90s shows like Murder She Wrote, Batwatch, Airwolf, Chips, Hillstreet Blues, Matlock. Of course now even Family Guy, Simpsons, etc. Extensive - I had no idea
he was hilarious on Malcolm. That's what made his turn on BB surprising. I'm probably not the best critic as I don't know how to judge acting unless it is really, really bad. Even then some cases people will laud a performance I find cringey. Anyhow, I loved him in just about everything I've seen him in (Malcolm, BB, Sneaky Pete, All the Way to name a few). He's also a pretty good voice actor

I didn’t like him in Sneaky Pete. Never watched Malcolm amd that was a big part of his career.
but recently saw "The Band's Visit" on B'way and found it to be a very absorbing and enjoyable musical drama.
Of course I have lived most of the last 22 years in Israel and am married to an Israeli, so it might not be as interesting if you have no knowledge or interest in the Middle East.
It's a nice cast and Cranston is very good. The play is built around Howard Beale which the movie was not.
The set and they way the play is staged is pretty interesting. They also mix in some video effects that work pretty well. And they try to keep the chaos going by mixing audience with actors.
But they should have played with the lighting. It's just bright and in your face for two hours.
And,of course, they squeeze in some left wing propaganda at the end.
Overall, it was enjoyable show and if you like Cranston, you'll love it.
Tim Whatley on Seinfeld.

and a couple other things that I'm drawing a blank on
but, yeah, overall my knee jerk reaction to Cranston in non BB roles is meh, you're no Walter White. (never saw MiM)
