What about Evan Engram to WR

Thinblueline : 3/16/2019 5:34 pm
Best Player available at 6 and TJ Hockenson TE at 17 if available? This Dude looks like a beast at BLOCKING as well as in the passing game.. who's throwing the remote?

If Hockenson is a beast.. you don't have to move Engram to WR to justify drafting Hockenson... did you see Gronk AND Hernandez co-exist on the field?
I don't think
Photoguy : 3/16/2019 5:42 pm : link
people would be throwing the remote over picking him. The common feeling is that we need other pieces first. JMO.

Cool. What did they say about Engram? :)
I'm not a Hockenson fan. He's a big guy who blocks well inline
Ira : 3/16/2019 5:57 pm : link
but has a way of missing his man when trying to block in space. He has good hands, but not especially good in getting separation.
Think thats a huge move that wont be figured out till

After the draft in Training camp. Lots of upside in EE no doubt. Big strong fast and DECENT hands., that could get better. OBJ who ?
Why do so many want to take a mismatch and turn it into a JAG?
djm : 3/16/2019 6:03 pm : link
Plus, and I know BBI loves this part, Engram will earn less money as a TE. He’s a bigger mismatch and bigger bargain if he plays TE. Leave him there. You don’t have to be an all world blocker to flourish at TE. See tony Gonzales, Shannon sharpe and Jimmy graham.
You draft Hock and run two TE as your base package
AcesUp : 3/16/2019 6:06 pm : link
From 12 personnel you can split EE out wide or in the slot so it figuratively is 11 personnel. You can even move him into a fullback like position so it looks like 21. Barkley is a guy that you can split out wide as giving you the ability to go to an empty set from this package as well.

You don't have to move the guy to WR and drafting Hockenson actually makes him more valuable, so you don't have to trade him either. It could potentially highlight Barkley while making the offense more explosive and unpredictable.
The daily Evan Engram at WR thread.

Can we just sticky this so it doesnt get repeated over and over again?

Only if they sticky the 'One final thought on the OBJ trade' threads too.
It's one thing to have speed...
VinegarPeppers : 3/16/2019 7:46 pm : link
its another to get off a CB at the line and run great routes. Quickness is as important, or more, than speed.

Remember Ramses Barden?

predicted 3 more weeks of winter and that Engram would stay at TE....
We will split him out and move him all over.

Engram is a weapon. Hockenson is more of a traditional TE who could be better than Ellison or Simonson and who could also be a sneaky good weapon. Hockenson can actually be pretty dangerous as a receiver, but is a true two-way TE. May be what we need if we are looking to run a power offense with more two TE sets and play-action with an emphasis on blocking. A good group of TE's who can block and catch is vital to playing how we seem to want to play. Engram is a weapon that we can line up anywhere, including in-line, in the slot, or out wide in some sets.
