If he did and you tried to trade him, that team is responsible for the tag.....what do you think you would get?

🏈@Redskins Landon Collins @TheHumble_21 on @nflnetwork with @RhettNFL: Its going to be awesome (to play NYG). I get to prove the point that they should have at least tagged me.
Seeing what the trade ended up being I dont think Collins or Buchanon would have made a difference. I actually believe now the original rumors of Ogbah being a part of the deal and when Buchanon decided not to sign with the Giants they changed the course of Ogbah being the player included in the deal to Peppers
It seems the Redskins wanted him badly to sign that deal. Collins grew up a Redskins fan. Maybe every party involved new that.
So my question would be what if they franchised him and then offered to trade him to the Redkins.
Hindsight is 20/20 but I wonder what the Redkins would have given up for him? I'm already certain they would have traded for him and I am thinking a 3rd or 4th rounder. Wasn't his contract for more than the tag anyway.
I'm guessing the Giants couldn't take that risk with the other trades and signing they wanted/needed to do this off-season.
you have to look at the impact of the first domino on the subsequent domino and so on.
If we tagged LC, it would cost $12M against the cap. There is no indication that he would have signed it or agreed to a long-term extension right away.
So LC's domino occupies $12M of the $28M. Tack on the same cap hit that Bucannon signed in TB for $2.5M.
With $14.5M of the $28 consumed, DG has said that he likes to keep a $10M buffer to sign draft picks and to account for injuries.
We likely never make the trade with the Browns as we couldn't absorb the $16M of OBJ's dead money. But of course, the next hypothetical is what if the Giants were dead set on moving OBJ? We would have had to create cap space. Do we pull the tag on LC? Do we release Eli? Do we restructure Nate pushing dead money further down the line?
Yeah, but not exactly farfetched!

The $13 mill saved not signing Collins and getting Peppers, has not yet been surpassed in aggregate with whom they have signed so far.
Still too much money for a guy that is a liability in coverage.

Have things quieted down since you last reported?
