Next Post Mock (Come make a pick)

kelsto811 : 3/17/2019 1:56 pm
I did a few of these in the past. They do not require any planning, so I figured why not. Rules are:

- I select a player for #1 overall team
- #2 (49ers) are on the clock
- Next person to post and select a player for them would be the pick
- Next person to post and pick a player for #3 would be the pick, etc.
- If there's 2 picks made for the same team, the person who posted 1st is the official pick and any other mentioned player is still available.
- No hypothetical trades (besides the 1 I started with)
- Can continue on for as long as people keep posting

Its also more fun if...

- You don't make 2 picks in a row
- If you already made a few picks, try to give others time to pick (something like & gt; 30 min after last pick)
- I'll update the board in thread when I can but if you feel so obliged, posting an update when needed would be helpful
- In between discussions are welcome

I am going to kick this thing off by assuming 1 trade, just because I feel like it's a given the top 5 gets shaken up some how. So Raiders are going to send #4 and #27 to Cards for #1. Any other value they'd give I'll just assume wouldn't affect this years draft.

With the 1st pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select...

QB Kyler Murray, Alabama

Wow, that's embarassing. Lol
Tough choice between OT ,DT and Devin
Pan-handler : 3/17/2019 4:02 pm : link
But the LB core needed an all around dynamic playmaker and Devin is it.

Could have easily went Jawaan Taylor, Andre Dillard, or Cody Ford here. However this was with the assumption that RT will be addressed in FA and a plug and play one will still likely be there at 37 (with the depth at OT).

Here is Boylhart on Devin:

Devin Bush LB Michigan

STRENGTHS
The best pure, true linebacker in this draft is Devin Bush. He is a “quick twitch” athlete with excellent instincts along with excellent speed to play in any style of defense. You can use him inside or outside, as a run stuffer or in single coverage situations. Devin plays bigger than his size and has the strength and leverage to blow bigger offensive lineman up in the hole allowing others to make tackles for losses. He is a form tackler with excellent skills to shed blocks and make the tackle before the 1st down maker. He’s a coach on the field and shows leadership skills in his ability to direct players when his instincts suggest the defense needs to be adjusted just before the snap of the ball. He has the speed and change of direction skills that most safeties at the next level do not have. Devin is a playmaker and you don’t find those very often playing defense at the middle linebacker position in the draft. He has the ability to impact like Sean Lee has for the Cowboys.

Devin Bush - ( New Window )
The Giants would have one HELL of an LB corps

I'll play...

Tennessee selects TJ Hockenson, TE, Iowa

Delanie Walker is getting older (35), missed most of last year, and I think Tennessee could benefit most from a 2-way TE who could continue to help bolster both phases of their offense. He should be a nice safety valve for the QB and provide help as a blocker as well as a pass catcher.

‘Tweener size / uncertain system fit.
Level of competition.
Some injury history and a related confrontation with his former head coach.

Aaron Donald may have paved the way for prospects like Oliver, but he had big-time production and a non-stop motor.

Cool idea as we get closer to the draft.
The Ravens select Cody Ford.

Yanda can’t play forever, and Lewis seems to be Just a Guy. Dexter Lawrence would be good value here, but Michael Pierce has morphed into Damon Harrison and the Ravens will probably try to keep him beyond his one-year RFA deal.

A few of Watson’s 62 sacks were his fault, but there seems to be a pretty strong consensus in Houston that their tackles stink.

The Devin Funchess signing allows Indy to hold off until Day 2 to deal with their most glaring need, rather than reaching for a WR here. If a value like Lawrence weren’t available, Jeffery Simmons might be an option; the Colts can afford a high risk / high reward pick.

With the 27th pick the Arizona Cardinals select....
Leg of Theismann : 3/18/2019 5:49 am : link
Noah Fant, TE, Iowa

I thought about taking Bradbury (IOL) or N'Keal Harry (WR) based on need, but then realized the Cards are picking again in 6 picks. There are other IOL that will be available at #33 if Bradbury is off the board and this draft is deep at WR in rounds 2-4 so no need to rush a WR pick. With Fant, on the other hand, there will not be another TE who is quite as dangerous as him after round 1 and the Cardinals need some new offensive fire power, plain and simple.

The Chargers select Jeffery Simmons.
Big Blue Blogger : 3/19/2019 4:43 am : link
For a 12-4 team, the Chargers have glaring holes on both sides of the line. After pondering Greg Little and Dalton Risner, the Chargers decide to gamble on Simmons, a reputed top-ten talent with a recent ACL tear and one troubling (but much less recent) off-field incident. Corey Liuget is gone, and Darius Philon remains unsigned. Bosa and Ingram need more help from the interior line, on a defense that was exposed by New England. Meanwhile, Justin Jones showed enough as a rookie to hold down the position until Simmons is full-go.

Aaron Rodgers needs a new toy. Since signing a big second contract in 2015, Randall Cobb has been a fragile JAG. He's probably done in Green Bay. "Hollywood" steps in as the field-stretcher opposite Davante Adams, whose cap hit balloons to $16.6MM in 2020 and 2021.
