the intricacies of QB mechanics, but if his flaws are correctable, according to what this critic states, a year of sitting behind a guy like Eli and the tutelage of PS maybe the makings of success for Haskins. I do like what the critic stated about Haskins’ good attribute in decision making. I guess it is up to DG and PS if they can envision him as a franchise QB.
what the video review stated:
Positives:
Smart Decision Maker
Short/Intermediate Accuracy are Excellent
Smart in reading the Coverage
Negatives:
Late on hitch throws/deep-ins
Often under throws deep balls (due to him not following thru properly)
The way the ball comes out of his hand is concerning. Not a tight spiral, which may not translate well to the weather here in MetLife, especially in windy/poor conditions.
When his feet aren't set he has a hard time making the throws (might sound obvious, but due to the above way the ball comes out of his hand, it seems to compound)
Not sure if any of our resident scouting guru's/QB guys can chime in with some additional input. He seemed like he put a ton of work into this, and it really is a nice watch.
listing to this guy's reviews. He spends a lot of time telling you everything that is wrong with these QBs, gets you thinking they will be major busts. But then he always ends by telling us how successful he thinks they will be in the NFL. It was no different with Haskins.
Sounds like Haskins has very good decision making skills, and has three major knocks (if I'm listening correctly):
1. Issues with his throwing mechanics which results in a lack of spin on the ball (which seems correctable)
2. Accuracy when his feet aren't in perfect position (also seems correctable)
that are smart (great understanding of the game/plays) and make good decisions but don’t have a good arm/mechanics? Can these physical inadequacies be overcome by intelligence?

Kyler Murray Review - ( New Window )

With Murray ahead of him and if a team likes Lock more, given the high end front-7 talent in this draft, I could see him there at 17.
