Back for seconds!!!! Let’s go big blue!!! Ready to get back to work with the squad!!! Time to finish what i started last season
Thanks to DomerGiant for telling us this was coming.
Speed needed on outside.
Hope DG didn’t waste as much money on him as he did last year.
He has primarily played special teams and has dealt with injuries. You saw what he was capable of in Week 17.

I suspect after 5 years, and more games played than receptions, Latimer might just not be very good.

balling out one game per year?
But, some will bitch and moan regardless.
Nicely played viggie.
Hoping Domergiant is right that the guy we saw with 2 fantastic contested catches is the real Cody Littimer, and praying he can stay on the field!
When has Corey Coleman ever shown anything? If Latimer and Coleman could start playing like their draft slots suggested, and stay on the field, this team's WR situation will be fine.
Crazy IFs though.
It took Amani Toomer three years with significant reps to play like Amani Toomer

The occasional spectacular catch is enough to revive expectations. Who knows? Maybe he’ll finally stay healthy and put it all together. The most worrisome aspect of Latimer’s chronic underachievement is that, for all of his physical gifts, he doesn’t appear to get much separation.

Toomer later publicly acknowledged that his slow start as an NFL receiver was the result of exercise-induced asthma which he had hidden for years. After seeking treatment for the condition, his receiving career blossomed in 1999 and 2000.
With that fresh in the minds of everyone, hence the excitement. Somewhat similar to Sinorice Moss in the Redskins finale?
Latimer has a bit of size too which is lacking in the WR corps.
I think Giants are going to target a bigger bodied WR in the draft. Gettleman has tendency to favor these types. He was a big proponent of bringing Burress in and also had guys like Funchess and Benjamin in Carolina.

Knows the system
Comes cheap
Good teammate
Amani Toomer was a late bloomer - so too can Latimer!
KO returner, not as good as Coleman, but more than adequate.
Good run blocker for SB, which will give you some 40 - 80 yard runs, which would otherwise be 5 - 8 yds.
Fine play action deep threat as soon as the QB reads the S as not being able to get there. Combines height, strength, vj, hands and long speed. If your QB is accurate enough to give him a slight advantage to the ball, he will win out most or all the time.
Hopefully Eli learned to trust him late last year.

Some perspective:
Sinorice Moss' best year: 21 receptions
Jerrel Jernigan's best year: 29 receptions
Cody Latimer's best year: 19 receptions
Anything is possible. Maybe the Broncos were totally clueless. Maybe without injuries he would have had a nice year last season but fact is he should be fighting for a roster spot this year and nothing more. Let's not go from giving scholarships to our failed draft picks to handing them out to other team's failed draft picks.

Ahh... it was actually Jerrel Jernigan who I was thinking about when I said Moss. He's the guy who had that monster game against the Skins in 2013... the guy Mara said the coaches hadn't used correctly... then nothing. He was gone soon after.

I hope latimer stays healthy and contributes
Ideally, we'll draft a guy with a much higher ceiling to take his job as soon as he's ready. I'd like to have a younger option along with him there.
But, I'm alright with this otherwise. Latimer is what he is. He'll make some plays down the field here and there.
He may just be a guy that just needs his shot. I don't think he's going to turn into Julio Jones overnight, but I do think he still has some real upside.
Lol. If 1 of him or Coleman bust out Ill take it but I wouldnt go into the draft expecting them to.
Even if starter, doubt he is more than #3/#4 read on most progressions. Exception would be play action deep where a S read makes him #1 progression.
53 Men on a roster Quality Special Teams and Depth have as much, or more, to do with winning as the #1 WR.

Scheme fit. If nothing else it's going to be a headache trying to stop the Giants run game this year.

Agreed, but can anyone on the outside get open?
They need a fast guy that can make a safety stay back. Remember Tavon Austin catching a long TD against us last year in the opener? Austin doesn't do much, but that one long TD mattered in that people had to pay attention if he was on the field.
Maybe Coleman is that guy. I still think I'd call Cincy and ask what they want for John Ross. They'd probably give him up for peanuts.
Another alternative might be to use Shepard in that role, though if you read between the lines on jtgiants's posts it appears he's going out of town after being infected by Beckham's disease.
A great RB but no keep the safety deep wr
So I would expect that DG takes a close look at Parris Campbell, Marquise Brown and maybe Emanuel Hall as zone busting speedster wideouts in the draft
The reason the tight end and the running back are ostensibly higher in the progression is because WR # 3 on aren't getting open.
I'd much rather half of the catches Barkley had go to a WR and not average 7 yards a catch.
More relevant is whether we have a C and RT who can hold up for more than 2 seconds.

I have a feeling that this was the turning point of when Mara started gravitating towards the Reese/Ross vision instead of Coughlin's.

I'm hoping they stay out of a lot of 11 personnel this year. I'd draft a true TE (Hockenson) to pair with Ellison, and use Engram as a wildcard in a bunch of 12 personnel sets. That's my hope.
Imagine Hockenson on one side, Simonson on the other. steamroll teams with play action to Tate and Engram.
