I keep hearing all of the football Talking Heads saying that the Giants are afraid to bench, or get rid of Eli because of what happened when Mcadoo benched him. How come nobody realizes that it wasn’t about Eli being benched but the person who they replaced him with, Geno Smith!!! Everybody at that point in time was looking for Webb to play as he was the back up for quite some time and was drafted by Reese. Smith had absolutely no future with the team and Webb had some potential in the fans minds. Get it right, the giants screwed it up, but it’s not all about Eli.
Mara has talked about how the Simms exit still weighs heavy on him
Getts said in a recent presser that a good model for transition is one where everyone goes away happy
I chuckled, I did. Thx for that TTH
Okay, that’s funny.
coffee spit out....nice!
Then the farewell should have started last year.. why waste another year.. how come none of the other key players or coaches got farewell? Didn't Tuck deserve it? He was the best player on the field in 2007.. his hit on Brady changed SB 46.. otherwise Brady was perfect for 2 quarters against us.. didn't TC deserve it? JR? None of them deserve a farewell but Eli keeps getting chance after chance.. he has sucked the past 3 years..

Say this. I believe the franchise has decided to give Eli the fond farewell that he deserves after two SB championships and being the face of the franchise for the last 14 season. Its most likely coming from the owners.

The optics of the transition from Eli to the next quarterback should not be a major player in the decision.
Personally I was fine with the move two years ago because MacAdoo felt it gave him the best chance to win, I don’t know, isn’t that what it s about.
To be honest, as big a fan as I have been of Eli, I was put off by Eli s tearful press session that week at his locker.
Simms when benched handled it like a warrior, not a player who was hurt.
Gimme a break. He was running for his life behind that OL and struggling in that dumb Macadope offense the same way, yeah for sure. He looked like exactly what he was for the Jets. A guy that could look decent on a drive or two, sometimes get you down the field, make a couple of plays, and then throw an INT or fumble, or incomplete at the worst possible moment to blow the game. He was so good that nobody wants him since he left the Jets.

Geno Smith playing that game was in the best interest in this franchise in the long term. People forget how bad the Raiders defense was that year. I honestly believe Eli probably wins that game and no Saquon Barkley.
