NFT: Best 4 Bay Hard Drive Enclosure- Also, Best cloud backup

I recently bought a qnap and did a lot of research on this and found that these were the best two brands. I got the QNAP-TS228A and am very happy with it (I only needed a 2bay) My impression is that QNAP might require a bit more tinkering and Synology is a bit more plug n play but set up on qnap wasn't all that difficult.

I have Plex running but I don't even really use it. Most of the devices on the TVs I have have Kodi or something similar loaded so I just leverage the media share when inside my house. Plex is for when I'm not at home and although it's good I feel it lacks something overall (disclosure haven't fully played around with Plex just yet- just not super impressed).

qnap and synology play the movies from that device right? if so, i just need the 4 bay for just storing.

anyone have any luck with Mediasonic?

May have misunderstood your original question. What I bought is network attached storage (NAS) - which is slightly different from just a hard drive enclosure. The NAS I have also acts as a media server.

You can use external storage but still have the server run on your PC or you can purchase a powerful enough NAS that does both.
