Should be thrilling stuff. Mike loved the Beckham move, only downside is he needs to find a new Giants player to put in his doghouse. He wont ask Getttleman a remotely tough question.
Oscar, I know nothing about you. But I would venture to say if your career ends up as successful as theirs, you will have done well for yourself

Gettleman on @WFAN660 on when to pull the lever on a QB change with a rookie behind Eli: "Time will tell. I'd like to think I'll make the right decision."
Really sounds like they are making it up as they go.
Its just a feeling that this thing isnt stitched together very well.
Eh, it just sounded more to me like he was monitoring himself and being careful not to be too forthcoming or telling about what their plans really are.
I really don't think they're just making shit up as they go.
We might not love what they do or agree with their plans - but I think assuming this is a bit of a reach.
If Murray was in play Eli wouldn't be back. Again, and I know this for a Fact, eli will be the QB as long as Giants are alive in playoff race. If you trade for Murray he plays from day 1. There's no evidence the Giants will break an agreement w eli.

That was quite a ride. In the first 10 minutes of that interview, I was convinced Gettleman was taking a QB this year. When Francesa went back and re-asked the same questions, I was convinced they aren't taking one.

You still need a contingency plan in case you can can't land Murray, and the KC model... but I get it a high draft pick that you sold the farm for should start day 1...

Murray doesn't seem like the Giants type of pick, but even if he was, I feel like they would want him to sit behind Eli.
That means to me we are trading for either Rosen if Murray is taken or Murray if the Cardinals pass on him. Which is why DG was really talking to San Fran. Seeing what it takes to get him to # 2

Fair enough. To me, there was a sense of ad-libbing going on.
first - thank you for all the input you have been providing.
I actually keep thinking Josh Rosen is the "if things work out" comment. Now I am in the minority and am not a big fan of Rosen. I am skeptical that a team is willing to move on from him after one year and other things about his game I dislike.
Eli is a lame duck, we've got draft equity... we're trading up for Murray.
I will say this, the Giants need to play chicken with the Cardinals then. We are in the drivers seat. The only other team to worry about is Oakland as far as trading up for Murray. Let the Cardinals blink. I think if we stay where we are, we get the chance to draft either Murray (who I am not really a fan of but will see) or we get a defensive player falling to us.
Assuming Cards pass on Murray, then you have the 49ers, Jets, Raiders and Bucs who most likely will all pass on Murray. Teams who could try and move up- Miami, Jacksonville, Washington and maybe Cincinnati (but he doesn't seem like a QB for them).. I think we can hold the line at 6 and get Murray if we want.

Why would trading for Murray means he plays day 1? The Giants traded for Eli and he didn't play day 1.

Gettleman on @WFAN660: "I'd be a real clown to not admit (we have to address QB future)... Obviously the ideal situation is you bring a young kid in and let him learn from the old pro."
so he'd be a real clown this year but not last? trading collins would send the wrong message, but snacks and apple didn't?
thanks for removing all doubt - he is a real deal first ballot hall of famer clown.

DSear god, some of you need a fucking explanation on everything. Clearly the others were 100% locker room removals and Collins ended up being $$$$.. He was going to cost too much to keep around.

out to him EE produces better without OBJ.
Guess the Analytics Dept was in that week... ; )
He was referring to Shepard on the outside not EE.
No - he was talking about the uptick in EE's production when OBJ wasn't on the field.

Gettleman on @WFAN660 "In NY sports history, when was the last time a player of this magnitude was traded in his prime?"
He and host agree: Tom Seaver.
Its just a feeling that this thing isnt stitched together very well.

This..
MF: Is it crazy to think the team can win this year?
DG: No! Why not?

Those were two separate pieces, SS to outside but that was not part of the increase in production without OBJ. That part was about EE's production.

Gettleman on @WFAN660 on if 2019 is Eli's last year: "Who knows?"
Hey Mike, you want to loft some softballs up for DG to make us look better?
"This didn't decline over night"
Are you adding a young qb this year?
"probably"
Trust us

If everything goes the right way ... probably
Should have talked about Lauletta and the idea of using the trade market for a QB.

He needs some work, and wouldn't be a threat to take over for Manning right away.

So not picking a QB and picking a QB is the wrong thing to do. Ok got it.
