If I were dg I would take one of those from the the 4th onward every single draft. Five out of six times you get a bust. The sixth time you get a Brady. But you never really know in advance.
interviews today and no one asked about Kyle Lauletta.
Should the Lauletta pick worry us about this regimes ability to evaluate the QB position?
I would say no. Lauletta did get a lot of praise from a variety of analysts last year and the fourth round seemed like a steal to pick him. That being said, it seems like he is not going to pan out partially due to some poor decisions of his own.
Yes, he displayed immaturity and purportedly a lack of solid work ethic too.
However, he is young and this is year #2. Maybe he figures it out just enough to compete? I'm not sold on him being a complete dud just yet.
Further, Giants are going to draft two defensive players at #6 and #17 - because they will be the best on DG's value board. Round #2 the Giants will grab the best OL. Rounds 3 maybe a WR and another OL.
Bottom line is we have a lot of holes and this is a defensive talent kinda draft. I don't see a QB being taken this year EARLY.
Please don't think I'm making a talent comparison... Â
But keep in mind, Lauletta's opportunities came when he was standing behind the OLine prior to the start of the season. They played a lot better during the second half of the season.
Some overlap, some different stuff. Overall impression about this one is he wants a new QB behind Eli.
What would they ask? Whether Kyle will make a good equipment manager one day?
Gettleman was clear that we need to bring another QB in here
Which only highlights what a bad pick that was last year in an otherwise good draft.
I find this incredible.

People couldn't stop asking Davis Webb questions.

He played 11 snaps.
People here really are ridiculous.

Bret Favre had a similar rough time his first year in the league, struggling with the work requirements and mental focus.
Lauletta doesn't seem like a dummy, so let's hope he got a come-to-Jesus moment at his exit interview after week 17 and comes back ready to go.
