Last Years Rookies, Practice Squad

Samiam : 3/18/2019 6:16 pm
Wondering if any of the guys who made the 53 and played sparingly or only on specials or not at all or practice squad players are being counted on this year. We had some young DBs, (Haley) WRs, LBs, Evan Brown, and others. I’m not talking about Lorenzo Carter or Sam Beal types; for sure they are being counted on. This seemed to be a lot of young players UFDAs who made the roster but didn’t get off the bench ,i,e. Evan Brown. Will they contribute this year?
I've probably asked about

got "away" with only 2 halfbacks last year. If someone were to get hurt, I could Robert Martin getting some snaps.

won't start, but I also still wonder about Sean Chandler's upside.
Some of them will get a serious chance.

Grant Haley has to be the front runner for nickel corner, and he is probably the only one that they are seriously counting on right now.

Chandler will get a chance at a back-up safety spot. He made the roster last season, and I think he's in good shape to stick there because he also helps on Specials and they've already spent resources on two new Safeties.

Jawill Davis will get a chance at a back-up WR / return man spot. Whether or not he makes the team probably depends to a good degree on whether or not any more of last year's receivers are re-signed (a couple are still unsigned and we have no idea what they plan for them) plus who they draft. But he's got a shot.

Tae Davis is one of the two back-up ILBs right now, and whether or not he sticks around probably depends on whether or not they draft another ILB, and if they do, which one of him or the kid they got from KC makes the squad.

Evan Brown, Nick Gates, Mihalik, and a couple of others will get legitimate shots at the OL reserve group. There's a good chance that at least one of them sticks.

They have the first three TEs apparently set, but if anybody goes down, they have a couple of more young guys on the roster.

I almost listed Jawill Davis... at the very least, he's in the mix in the return game.

I think Haley has moved beyond the premise of the original thread since he was already the nickel back last year.

Perkins also returns this year. I know he is not a BBI favorite, but he had a good rookie year (followed by a bad year-2, injury year-3).
Robert Martin

I think he will be our 3rd back this year and may replace Gallman when he is a free agent.
Wasn't Evan Brown on the 53 all year?

Jawill Davis interests me. He's fast, strong and runs good routes

Is almost the forgotten man around here but he looked to be a legitimate threat at nickel cb down the stretch.

Funny thing is Paul Perkins is still under contract. I was almost sure he was going to be cut by now. I wonder what the backstory with this guy is? He gets named starter, plays like crap / gets hurt?. I mean he hasn't played in almost a year and 1/2, he can't be of any value to any other team, and he doesn't cost much and can be easily cut, so why is he still here? I realize it isn't the original posters question - but I wonder if they see anything in him to keep him around this long.
I wonder if Avery Moss

Makes it this year. He showed a little promise his rookie year, and was hurt last year (which is why he was cut and resigned to the PS)
