Holy shit. Guess that means he won't be a NY Met.

Was just going to post the exact same thing!!
sports compensation is just crazy. People that create public companies often don't make that in a lifetime.
@spotrac
Mike Trout still has $66.5M remaining on his current deal w/ the #Angels. Add in $430M of new guarantees, and at the end of the day, hell have a career earnings of $577.85M, the most in major American sports history.
I cant think of one place in Pennsylvania that I would rather live in than Orange County.
A lot more, because of youth
He gets there first..if Mookie comes close to repeating what he did last year to this year, look out.
I am sure hell be a solid player age 30-35, but youre basically paying him for what he was age 22-27.
Versus rotting in Philly?
The two teams have exactly won a WS once in the last 25 years..........

I agree but for them its worth it since hes why people even watch the games.

Philly is clearly on the rise.

Mid contract the deal will probably look decent to someone - esp with other mega deals to come - and he'll be traded if the Angels aren't contending or haven't won.

Hes a true generational player. Good for him, although it sucks he will have been exiled to the west coast his entire career.

People that create companies that are the best in the world at what they do make that and more. Mike Trout is the best in the world at what he does.
Did you just write that with a straight face?

Give that much to a player that has 1 hit in the post season. WOW.

LOL, of course I was being sarcastic. However, how many more chances will he have at getting to the post season.

You guys know that I love Mookie. But, Trout is a much better player and he is only one year older than Mookie. I think Mookie comes in under Trout (but more than Harper).

Of course, I wasn't comparing Mookie to Trout, I was comparing him to Judge.
Mookie has two more seasons before FA.
Judge has four more before FA.
A lot can happen, but that was just my opinion.

I think Mookie is the 2nd best player in the game at this point. Not hands down but pretty clear imo. He deserves more than Harper or Machado.
I think a healthy Judge is absolutely in the mix for #3, I really think hes ready for a special campaign.
